Afraid of Injections

1. Shower. Also I brush teeth like @Sorbate suggested

2. I usually use lysol and wipe the area I'm going to have the pin stuff sitting

3. Swab the injection site thoroughly

4. Swab vial

5. Use drawing needle, switch to different needle to pin. Only removing the needle cap when it's going to be stuck in the skin.

No issues pinning ever. Also consider using slin pins. Don't warm up the vial with water or by letting water run over the barrel - use a heat pad or wax warmer if you want the oil hot. Rotate injection sites (easier to do with slin pins).
I gotta ask.. why the brushing your teeth part? Ive never heard this before. Are you breathing on the top of the vial or something? Haha

Not directly lol I think it's more regarding the pin when it's uncapped as opposed to breathing on the vial.

I definitely go overboard but an infection would be most inconvenient.

F me, I thought I was careful with injections. I am in my 40's and have been doing PED injections and injectable vitamin shots for 20-30 years without an issue. I use one simple method. My skin is cleaned with rubbing alcohol - I use a make-up type cotton that doesn't leave any cotton fibres behind. I don't scrub or wash the area - I just wipe it down. Then I swab the top of the vial and stick a needle in, draw what I want, and inject. I keep the same cotton that was saturated in rubbing alcohol to stop any bleeding and give it one last wipe.
I am careful the needle does not touch anything and if it does, I throw it out and get another. If I am going into several vials I will back load another syringe.

The whole time I’ve been on TRT and new to cycling I’ve never aspirated , I’ve asked a friend of my wife that is a nurse and she said they rarely and almost never do it now she said it’s an outdated practice. SaltyDawg

Thanks Sorbate, This is great advice! I might have to try the subq injections. I imagine there is a limited amount that can be injected with subs.

My confidence on starting a new cycle has increased a lot reading all of these posts. I will definitely add the shower to the before injections. I had always stabbed the vials and stoppers. I'm thinking I got careless and didn't sanitize properly.
my thought, by the end of the day, depending on your job or what you do at home, our finger nails and nail beds are filthy. And when we clean our hands, how many people use a finger nail brush? Plus our breath is full of bacteria by end of day. I'd bet that contributes.

You can inject up to 1 cc with an insulin syringe. Avoid your belly fat, just inject in spots you would normally. If you are lean when you do a thigh injection do it at a 45 degree angle.

Another advantage is you don't feel it, no nerves and such. So you don't care if you have to inject every day.

Just to set your mind at ease, last infection I asked the er doctor why, and he said it happens, and it even happens there. Thats why sub q, only a skin infection then. Fuck i wouldn't want my muscle cut open.

Crazy how sometimes we just got to go back to basics, some methods here are a good recall and I’m going to start implementing them again. I’m just not sure about brushing my teeth and applying deodorant before injecting 🤣
But you know what the funny shit is that I never really thought about until now?… I actually refrain from breathing through my mouth and from breathing hard during prep and injecting… so brushing teeth is totally validated… the shit we do subconsciously 🤣

Lol after reading the injection protocols in this thread many of you would likely be horrified if I admitted to some of my injections.
LOLOL, i was thinking the same...I am good now, super clean etc. as i had a couple sterile abscesses in the last year or two.
Prior to that id pull my vial out of my gotch drawer, pop the draw needle in that i used over and over and dipped in alcohol once in awhile to clean old oil out etc., then switch to a new pin and inject, sometimes i forgot to change pin out.
I was definitely not a germaphobe when it came to injections...

Now i don't brush my teeth just before i inject, that is funny though, i must admit.

Now i keep gear in a ziplock bag that is clean, and keep in a very clean storage area, i use 70% alcohol as 99% is not good to use as it evaporates too quickly to do the best germ killing.
I use alcohol on top, and clean hands thoroughly and then use brand new draw pin, throw away in sharps container, then put on another brand new inject pin.
Jab, clean all once more, dispose in sharps container and carry on my day.

Haha yeah, I was just wondering, when 2 season vets say the same thing I was kinda surprised I never heard of that before..lol
I swear the first infection I got (my first injection, lol) was because I was breathing so heavily, kinda panicking as I injected in my thigh, that my stink breath got all over the pin as I injected, likely some spittle, lol. So after that I akways brushed my teeth. Now it’s just a habit, plus what would it hurt?

99% alcohol doesn't disinfect. I can’t remember the exact reason off the top of my head, but something about it not being able to pass thru the bacteria barrier at that concentration. 70% is the highest you are supposed to use. I guess even 50% will work if the dwell time is long enough.

Well I guess I've been lucky lol... using 99% alcohol for 15 years never had an issue... I will definitely look into it though.
