OntarioDude's Log

Hi Fellow Brawners;

I haven't logged much in the last week or so but have been pushing just as hard as usual (as above workouts), not missing workouts, sticking to my diet and trying to get enough sleep.

I did Back Day on Friday, rested yesterday and I'm going for a Shoulder & Abs workout today.

I'm now planning to revamp and tweak my workouts a little and then continue logging on here.

Today (Sun.) - Shoulders and Upper Abs Focus

Cheers,

OD

Hello Canadian Brawners;

Here's the run down for the last few days...

Sunday: Shoulder & Upper Abs focus
I completed 4-6 sets per exercise and 4-15 reps (or more until failure) with some drop sets and super sets on the following exercises:
  • Iso-lateral Shoulder Press - up to 4 plates per side (8 total)
  • Lateral Machine Shoulder Raises - up to stack (110 Lbs.)
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Raises (front) - up to 50 Lbs. dumbbells
  • Reverse Machine Flyes - stayed at 250 Lbs. for a better feel
  • Fitness Ball Crunches - 30 x 6 (Upper Abs focus)

Monday: Rest / Cardio Day
I completed 30 minutes of cardio.

Tuesday: Rest / Cardio Day
I completed another 30 minutes of cardio rather than weight training to allow my bicep & forearm to heal up a little more before arm day.

Wednesday.: Arms & Lower Abs Focus
I completed supersets and drop sets last night with 4-6 sets per exercise and 6-15 reps (or more until failure) on the following:
  • French Press - up to stack 210 Lbs. + 45 lb. plate
  • EZ Bar Curls - stayed at 120 Lbs. with high reps due to sore bicep & forearm
  • Tricep Pushdowns - up to stack 210 Lbs. + 45 lb. plates attached
  • Alternating Dumbbell Curls - stayed at only 40 Lbs. with high reps & more mind/muscle connection due to sore arms
  • Dips - Bodyweight until failure (approx. 25 x 2)
  • Incline Leg Raises 25 x 4
I must be low on something since my biceps and forearms were cramping, seizing up and having spasms during the evening. I noticed this a little on my quads the day before after doing cardio as well. I'll add some electrolytes and perhaps some other supplements (taurine, etc.) before my next workout.

Today (Thursday) Leg Day
Please stay tuned... :)

Thank you & keep pump'n,

Hello Branwers;

I haven't updated since I've been doing mostly them same thing with a few tweaks here and there to try and work harder and more intense when possible.

After easing off on heavier curling and staying at a more reasonable weight for a few weeks, I finally tore something. I heard a big pop and other noises (even with headphones) come from it when it happened. It's now swollen and bumpy in certain areas but I didn't notice any bruising or marks until today when I woke up. It's been spreading and getting darker throughout the day so I'll go to the Dr.'s tomorrow morning.

I had OsteoTherapy for my forearms last week and it was working surprisingly great so I thought I'd be up to my normal again really quickly. For those interested, the OsteoTherapsit worked on my one forearm for an hour and used several different techniques (TENS machine & Heat, rubbed in a special cream, performed a Cupping treatment and then Game Ready treatment (a hot & cold pressurized therapy system many professional athletes use). My very first treatment brought me to what I thought would normally take 2-3 weeks. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it. I highly recommend a good OsteoTherapist like the one who helped me. For me, I noticed way more results than regular Physical Therapy or Massage Therapy for injuries.

I may add a pic tomorrow once I get it looked at and can report on the actual problem more specifically.

Thank you & keep pumpin',

Hello all;

Here's the only thing temporarily slowing me down.

Good thing I'm testing some SuperDeca as it might help.

I'll do what I can to heal quickly and push through. If there's something I can't do, I'll find something else to do in it's place (extra leg day, etc.).

It's currently all puffy and swollen and bruised and therefore there's much less fullness and definition than usual.

I worked Shoulders & Abs today anyways. LOL

Wow, I'm sorry to see this. I wish u a speedy recovery. It's funny when u year something u hear the pop even though it doesn't really make a sound to other ppl. I have done it twice. Well the deca should help. Keep us posted!

I'm hoping to get away with some advanced Osteotherapy or rehabilitation since it did wonders for my forearm but I do realize it's possible that I may need further professional assistance. Surprisingly, it doesn't hurt much now so I'm hoping it's just something minor.

I have been taking care of my arms and being extra careful since they've been sore. When it finally went on me I wasn't even at the gym or lifting anything - go figure...

I'll know more soon once I get the ultrasound info. back.

That does not look good at all, I know bruising like that can be misleading but it looks like it has balled up to your shoulder some. Is that just the angle your holding it in that pic? Or is it looking like the dreaded deadlifters baseball when your arm is down? The lack of pain actually concerns me too. Not tryna freak you out, just worried about you bud and wishing you all the best.

Hello my Brother;

It's always nice to hear from you @gondar1. Thank you for the concern and for proving some input to assist.

The muscles appear to have shifted a little and there are some weird bumps in there now. It appears that the bicep is mostly up top closer to the shoulder and left some space or a gap almost (hopefully to grow) further down from the peak and closer to the forearm. The bruising inside has slowed down and might be beginning to fade so I think that is also a good sign. I guess I'm hoping it'll end up looking decent once it heals but who knows right now. I'm waiting on the ultrasound results and should know better in a few days.

I have been able to do my shoulders and my chest so far and legs won't be a problem. I can probably do certain movements for back where it relies more on the lats instead of biceps and triceps should also be fine. I know I can't rush things if I want good results in the end so I'm being careful. It actually hurts more to spot someone when I stretch my are out or twist it then it does when I actually lift.

I had run some orals recently and I wonder if that dried things out to the point where it had to give. I know it's always a danger when your muscles get stronger and you can lift more but your tendons and ligaments aren't ready for it yet.

I've been going hard and heavy without any breaks for almost two years and it seems I've just been rotating through various injuries of the week which eventually heal up and I focus on the new ones. I would have thought this would have happened during some heavy curls or heavy back work but it went on it's own on a day when I hadn't even worked out. I was working and I simply straightened my arm out straight too quickly and it snapped.

If others on here have had something similar I would welcome any discussions in this thread or I could always open a new one to discuss these type of injuries. I think it would be good to always remind ourselves that we aren't 100% invincible and things like this can happen once in a while.

Either way, this was a good eye opener for me (& hopefully others) and will help me be even more careful in the future.

Thank you very much,

OD

Can you post pics of your two arms to allow a comparison?

I can post current pics of both arms when I get a chance to take some more pics. The bruising has mostly gone away now although it's still a little swollen in places. The bicep itself seems to have moved up my arm although it's not too obvious unless you know about it or are looking for it. In the meantime, the following post has both of them before the injury.

I may be getting it fixed if or when I can get over the idea of taking it easy for several weeks while it heals.

Have you been offered a surgical solution?

Have you been offered a surgical solution?

Yes, they had me on a waiting list to get repaired but I'm still not sure if I want to or not since it'll bring so much down time. I think it'll heal good since I can already use it but it won't heal properly and will probably throw off any symmetry between my two arms if I don't get it fixed. It kinda looks a little freaky now and brought out some new veins which is a bonus if I want to look on the bright side. LOL

Damn @OntarioDude sorry to see that injury. Do you know for sure if it's a tear? In any case, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thank you @vancitybb. I had an ultrasound which confirmed it's torn. It started to feel better after only two days and only hurts if I move or stretch it certain ways.

I suspect the Dracorex SuperDeca which I am currently testing will be helping me heal in some areas a little quicker (not repair the injury though of course) which is nice and great timing. I still want to test it out properly for my Review Log and don't want it to go to waste so I am going hard where I can on all my other exercises and body parts and am just taking it easier on my one arm for now.

Thank you,
