started walking every day last december late in my 43rd year on snow/grass and by the end of winter was running 8k every day in the snow(humble brag maybe?). recently have been incorporating sprints and fartleks and now pull ups via a special tree where i do my running. should point out it was these high intensity exercises that really started to solve my joint and lower back problems, not to jinx anything
just want to know what exactly i am doing three nights a week with the following routine, all done non stop beginning to end with a few sips of water during. i only run on snow and grass btw, if i'm ever on concrete/gravel it's to get back on the grass/snow
1) warm up run 300-400 meters up to the tree with only a few steps of walking at the approach
2) do one set of pull ups
3) hit the ground and run 100 meters around some trees and back to the tree again and repeat this for ten sets (10 sets pull ups + 900 meters total running in between each set)
repeat above one more time for a total of 600-800 meters warmup runs, 20 sets pull ups and 1800 meters of running in between the sets, all done without stopping. followed with casual random wind down running/sprinting/pull ups for maintenance
the tree has two parallel branches by the way, not exactly parallel but close enough and i can alternate directions to even things out. they are almost perpendicular to the tree with only slight angle upward. maybe about the thickness of a soda can where i grab them and i use open palm/thumb-on fingers-side neutral grip. i have to be careful with my shoulder so staying away from dips/push ups/weights for now
just wanting to see what that workout might do after a few months, i could barely do a few pull ups when i started with bad form and now at 4 pull ups. i want to gain muscle but will condition myself first before going to weights and more intensive weight training, unless this gets me swoll first lol. cheers
