What kind of cholesterol medication works best with least amount of side effects?

My doctor won't do these. Probably too expensive he might get in shit.
Even with your blood work showing skewed lipids? It's pretty fucked up that you basically need to have a stroke or heart attack before they will provide these diagnostics. Have you looked in to any private services?

Boils my blood bud. I believe that it is covered if ordered by a specialist though. But that begs the question, why are you seeing a specialist? Probably because you have an issue that might well have been prevented or at least limited if it had been diagnosed earlier, probably by using said test. Fucking Bureaucratic Bullshit.

My doctor was insisting I go on statins. I told her there wasn't a chance in hell I would take them. My position was that it didn't matter if I had 100% LDL, if there was no inflammation in the arteries. I said if you're seriously concerned then send me for a CT calcium score. As @Oldguyjiujitsu has wisely advised you do. She said she would not send me for one but she would refer me to a cardiologist. When I saw him, he agreed with my logic and sent me for the scan.
Take matters into your own hands. Know what you want, insist on it or insist they refer you to someone who will. Or don't.

Google says his numbers don't require statins yet. For guys who have been on or were advised to take statins, how high does it need to be to warrant medication?

Americans go on about our "free" healthcare and don't realize ours is a system of "fix you before you die, for the cheapest possible"

Haven't read through the whole thread so forgive if its been mentioned. I would give Cardarine a shot. Lots of studies have shown it to reduce cholesterol and even BP in some cases.

A co-worker was having issues with his balance and just feeling off. This went on for months , Doc for some reason was not willing to get a diagnostic scan.... He was no longer able to work..... went to ER and told them he figured that he had had a stroke. Got his scan showed a mass in his brain, now has found out he has brain cancer......... was given 6 - 10 months to live........

I find that you have to put on a little bit of acting if you need immediate help. We have access to walk in clinics and the ER for free, utilize them even if you have to push. Don't get discouraged, find a good doctor.

I know it's easier for us in the major cities but it's there are always good people out there just keep looking.

Yea I make sure to get wild caught and only red meat I eat is one steak and 1 lb of extra lean ground beef. All dairy is low to 0% fat
I drain my beef fat as much as I possibly can and replace it with olive oil

Interestingly the testosterone we inject into ourselves is made from cholesterol

I just realized for the first time that fish oil doesn't actually lower cholesterol. Well it lowers triglycerides and can raise hdl but also can raise ldl cholesterol 🤯

Statins have been shown to only reduce the risk of heart attacks by 1%.
They have a host of side effects, co enzyme depletion is one.

I would work on my diet first.

Fibre would be the number one thing first.

The reduction in carbohydrates and more fats for energy sources.

I have done this my whole life and am the only one in my family with good cholesterol.

There are studies on carbs and cholesterol levels.

Co enzyme q 10 is very important to take when running statins.
My wife’s mother would get global amnesia. She would clean the house and not remember it. Go bowling and not remember it.
Her doctor told her to ignore it, I recommended she stopped taking it.

Anyhow it freaked her out and she stopped. They put her on a statin at 85. Her cholestrol was only slightly elevated. I wonder if they get a kick back of some sort.
Docs get perks from from drug reps for choosing their drugs to script to patients. 110%!

I agree on the fibre thing. I’ve been looking into daily supplementation on Metamucil for the many benefits.

1 heaping tablespoon at night before bed.
Start off with 1 teaspoon, then a week later increase.

Otherwise you will poop 4 times a day at first.

It scavenges your colon and cleans it up to flow better.

What I like is no matter what, I’m getting enough fibre every day.

Take a probiotic every day as well, and you’ll pretty much have zero digestion issues.

Reduces cholesterol and colon cancer.

Citrus bergamot, berberine, carderine, red yeast rice, fibre, fish oil all worth looking into I also need to get a handle on mine.
Heard K2/d3 could clean up plaque as well good luck!
