No sir. But I was tested. Had a sudden onset of vertigo while standing in our bedroom talking with the wife. Had just brought her home a coffee and was chatting about the day. The room out of nowhere started spinning around in circles. It lasted about 1-2 minutes. I have never had vertigo before and it was awful. Once I got the world righted I went and had a something to eat. It didn’t feel like low blood sugar but it was worth a shot. Had some mr noodles that the kid eats and some OJ just to spike that sugar. Thought I felt a little better and the world went on tilt again. This time not as long. Took my BP and it was jacked. 150/90. It has been consistent at 130/80 for months. Had another one where the world started spinning. So 3 total all within an hour of one another.
said fuck this and went to the hospital. Spent 3-4hrs in emerg. Had another more intense one lasting about a minute.
no slurred speech, no drooping of face. Could move arms legs etc. Could speak and articulate my thoughts while they were going on and was able to stay standing or sitting by myself even though the world was on tilt.
saw a doc. Passed all functional stroke tests. Tried one that should have made me sick if I had an inner ear issue. Didn’t feel great after but it didn’t trigger another onset of vertigo and didn’t make me sick.
so I’m now labelled a a walking contradiction. Got a full work up on bloods, an ECG and a CT scan of my head an neck. Waited a few more hours then met with the doc. All tests crystal
clear. No concerns. Oh yeah.... and a covid test. 2 days later. Negative for covid.
was referred to the stroke clinic and scripted betahistine. It’s a drug that is used to treat vertigo stemming from things that inhibit blood flow to the brain and in this case inner ear.
no more episodes to date. Follow up at stroke clinic went well. Doc very confident I didn’t have a stroke or TIA.
so the thought was inner ear probably from some kind of viral infection.
super weird. Super scary. Put some things in perspective. One min life is good and then on a switch in can change.
Im counting my blessings and extremely happy it looks like this was probably more like a silly infection than anything more serious.
Me too..... but if it wasn’t I’ll never let any of you fuckers hear the end of it!Glad you are ok, getting older sucks ass.
Hopefully it was a one time fluke.
