Script TRT:Any Regrets?

Anybody here get script TRT and wish they had just kept using UGL instead of involving a doctor?

Lots of posts talking about the PRO's and benefits of jumping through hoops to get scripted. Are there any CON's to a doctor regulating or monitoring your levels and dosages?

I think Im 7 or 8 years on script??

I had really zero hoops to jump other than blood work and tyring the gel before getting the needle..

No regrets.... I really like getting blood work that comes along with TRT to keep fine tuning and focus on health.. I had one doc that wanted blood work everytime I needed a new 10 ml vile, but he was nuts... he's now on mental health leave.. The rest of my doc's want blood work once a year for my TRT.. I prefer every 6 months.

The only pain is timing your cycles if you want to add a bit more.. I add a bit more each summer and my yearly blood work is end of Nov/ early Dec so it;s not bad.

If your not on a script, I really really think you should get blood work min every year, preferrably every 6 months, if your going to use UGL for your self prescribed TRT.

I agree with @animal-inside , my benefits cover the test to a rediculous low cost out of pocket. I just got in with a true hormone doctor this month. He said he will bump up my test dose and add in arimidex and also HCG. My old fam GP was a bozo and just said 100mg week and said guys don't need estrogen checked. Sooooo I'm paying about or so a year $750 a year BUT I still think for peace of mind with all other additions other than just test it will be worth it. Also only requests bloods every 6 months for first year or two, then 12 months once the two of us decide I'm dialed in.
I'll just need to time whenever I decide to add in primo or Var, think I'm done with all the rest of it.

On the 3 + years I’ve been on TRT, between 2 diff dr’s, the only time I’ve had blood work is when I requested it myself so luckily there’s been no fuckery in that regard. I don’t regret it since my scripts are covered and it’s nice to have some extra bottles , and a solid legitimate reason to be on HRT and health reasons other than just wanting to get big.

Be careful with hormone clinics.. Search my threads if you'd like to learn about my experiences with them.. The one I was with was not great and I am happy to go elsewhere. Last week I actually tried the Telus health app. I wouldn't say they provide great health care since the doctor couldn't wait to get off the call with me, but it was free (coveraged in my health plan where as hormone clinics arne't) and he did renew all my scrips execpt my testosterone because he wasn't allowed to do that over the phone.. But the telus app hooks you up with a specialist for things they can't do over the phone. So they got me a endo specialist appoitnment.. I'm looking forward to being back with an actual specialist.

@animal-inside @Oldguyjiujitsu did you guys use certain phrases or words that encouraged a physician or an endo to be more likely to prescribe TRT? I really do not want to waste my time if they will give me the run around.

When I got referred to the endo last week it was because the Telus Health people are not allowed to prescribe or renew testoterone over the phone/face time.. He said he had to refer me to another doctor to do a face to face rescription renewal. No key words..

Mine was really easy. I took an injury to the groin. Five years later, I felt like crap. Dr ran all the normal tests and everything came back normal, I asked her to test my testosterone and she said OK. It came back as 196. He tested two more times and it was always in 190s so she looked at me and said “you’re going on testosterone”

On trt for 3 or so years. I don't regret it and I do blood work after every third 10ml vial. Should be every 3 months but my dose is 160mg a week and I usually go down to 125 so it lasts a lot longer then 3 months. I mentioned in another thread I always completely misinterpret my blood results so I don't know how I'd do it on my own. I happy to have the doc.

If you have been on for years doing it yourself, it will be pretty easy to get prescribed because likely you’ll never come back.
Only downside would be to come off to get tested to confirm.

Lets say I decide to go the legit route, I’ll just explain I have been on for more than a decade, did private blood work and already know that 125 mg puts me in the middle, that I have been using pharma test already (easy to find if you want it) and I would try to not have to come off first and feel horrible.

But worse comes to worse, I’ll just have to come off and feel blah for a few months.

I keep my blood work on my phone to show them the starting point.

What’s the worst thing that can happen? They say no and you keep doing it yourself?

I'm not on script trt but honestly with how good UGL stuff is the only upside for me getting a script is being able to travel with it.

At the end of the day I'd rather control my dose and do the blood work privately if need be than have some doc put me where they want.

I’ve went away for 2 weeks, I just make sure I’m using e/c for 6 weeks begore hand instead of prop, and double my dose 2 days before I go.

So if I’m running 150, I inject 300.

Never had an issue.

Why 2 days before, in case out of fluke I get an infection, I can get it taken care of before I leave. Havn’t got an infection in 7 years, but I am still precautious.

Just like I always have 2 syringes ready to go incase I get in an accident, and I showed my wife what to do if I’m passed out. One a week. If after that I’m not conscious then tell the doctor what I’m doing.

That's pretty much what I would do as well. I'd maybe experiment with some even longer acting test before hand too, I'd hate to be on vacation and my libido goes to shit lol.

Biggest regret was not finding the right dr sooner as I suffered through my late 30s and early 40s with low normal test levels.

It may shave a couple to a few years off the back end but well worth it to have better quality of life now.

Zero regrets, I'm fortunate enough my benefits pay for my Test and all the other things they prescribe and now that I'm dialed in I get tested once a year in January so if I wanted to add a bit of test I could throughout the year. If I want extra blood work done all I have to do is call and say I'm feeling off and no issues getting a rec.

@Sorbate how long were you off before you went to a doc and had to get blood work?

My regret is having to come down to true trt levels for bloodwork just so i can keep my script. I like to run 200 test minimum and doc wants 100. Honestly id like to stay at 500 always. Bloodwork is good and i feel and look great. Debating even going down to trt levels anymore. Other than needing a script for long travel or prison i dont really wanna play along anymore.

Never did. I just don’t feel like going thru the hassle. I have no issues finding pharma test to buy and when let’s get checked was still around, I tested myself to determine the real trt levels.

Other than I can’t travel with it, no difference. I don’t go on a holiday out of country for more than a week at a time.

I will likely go the legit route when I’m mid 60’s. That will be 20 years on so I doubt they will make me jump thru the hoops then.
