Leg/Glute kickbacks

Many people use the cable machines which I may but decided to use a machine to start. I added these about a month ago.
Mostly see women using the machine, but I like the machine all the same. Your gluteus maximus is supposed to be the largest muscle in the body and involved in so many day to day movements and other exercises. According to Osteopaths and Chiropractors I know they recommend everyone do one isolation exercise and a compound movement that hit your glutes. They are sore after belt squats and high position foot leg presses more than leg/glute machine kickbacks, but logically your glutes have to engage to move the machine.

The machine at the gym is similar to this one - https://backmusclesolutions.com/blo...4fTCWHOyPfnXzm4zRXGpPlL_YK-OZuvYZvfRamNi7JMmo

Lately I am having an uncomfortable feeling in my lower abdomen and my only conclusion is this exercise is causing it. You have to use abdominal muscles to keep your body in the right position as it is a one leg at a time exercise.
Not a popular exercise, but wondering if anyone else does this exercise/use a similar machine and if it caused any muscular discomfort. I thought it was caused by digestion issues, but the more I do them, the more I think it is a minor strain.
Similar to adduction/abduction machines. Don't see many using the machines, but my hips were getting a little sore during other sports, and added these and I no longer have any discomfort in my hips.
Curious if anyone else does these or a variation and when you started, did it cause any lower abdominal discomfort?

Thanks in advance.

I have had that before and never did get used to it. I use stiff legged deadlifts for the power and muscle building hamstring exercise and the lay down leg curl to finish them off. Laying down pulls all the strain straight up and down my abs so I get good balance.

I do cable kickbacks. To set up I use the "step-over" technique: if I've got the cuff on my right ankle then I'll step over the cable with my left foot and start the exercise. This forces my leg to go out at a 30° angle. I haven't felt any pain from this.

Other glute exercises I do:
- RDL
- good mornings
- single leg weighted step-ups (I use my bench for this, with a hand on my rack for balance)

Really?? I used them for lower back along with the apparatus that allows me to be 90deg and I could put a plate behind my head. I won challenge at my gym with 8 good mornings at 315lbs- 3 plates. I know if I had more adrenaline going I could have gotten 365.

One thing is for sure. When I did AAS every genetically gifted body part I have just BLEW up in strength and took the rest of my body along with me.

I worked on a railroad for many years before I did any AAS and that job involves tremendous lower back involvement. Before that construction and with genetics I got what I got. I also used 3 plates for reps on stiff legged deadlifts.

Yeah they're lower-back focused, but I also feel it works my glutes and hamstrings pretty good.

I love that exercise, but I'm nowhere near 315 lbs and probably never will be! That's awesome, sir.

I never see anyone else doing good mornings at my gym. Seems like an underrated or maybe lesser-known movement.

I'd bet the majority of people (experst) at your avg commercial gym wouldn't even know what it was, a lot of em would be making fun of it amongst their "crew" - "look at this dumbass, wtf is that supposed to be? A squat? deadlift? Guy don't know what he's doing lol"

So obviously I will be doing this the next time I find a suitable audience :)

I read a post on reddit where a guy was doing good mornings, and another guy walked over and offered to show him how to "squat properly" 😂

I personally do cable kickbacks. I've never really used the machine alternatives. I elevate my non working foot and I just imagine I'm scrapping the floor with my working foot. The range of motion with cable kickbacks is usually a lot less than what people think. Some people bring the working leg way too high and it becomes a lower back exercise
