Jobs You Dream Of Trying

As the title says. What are jobs you dream of trying even if only one day ? I’ll start for me I’ve always wanted to do farm labour and after long sit on an old deck with a cup of strong coffee with a spoon of honey in it and a fresh home baked muffin and watch the sun go down. I’d do it for free just to experience that satisfaction and ending it in such a beautiful way. SaltyDawg

You know for a few years I was so tired of my job, and I thought being a refigeration mechanic would be fun to do for awhile. Just to master another job. I’ve pretty much done everything except what I needed gas for, not allowed gas without a ticket.
I tossed around the idea of being our local mayor. Then I realized no way I could handle the other people on council who are oblivious to reality, so I x’d that idea, lol.
Electronics would be another thing I would love to learn. It’s too tough to self teach though unless you have enough time. So any controls I build are analog.

I did farm labour the first half of my life. And truthfully it was fulfilling. I loved the freedom of peeing anywhere I wanted, Lol.
‘My parents owned a hectare of land, so a mile by a mile square. We had cows, some sheep.
‘Sometimes I would just walk out in the back and hang out and watch the wildlife.
We also tried to ride the cows, lol. I don’t recomend that. We did have a huge bull you could ride. His name was George. Was bottle fed as a baby, his mother died. Was likely 3000 lbs. thank god I was flexible then, his back was wide. Mind you, you couldn’t train him, I tried, he went where he wanted, and if he wanted to lay down, well you got off really quickly.
I actually made a halter out of rope, I wanted to teach him like a horse. Fucking thing never figured out anything, no leg commands or nothing, lol.
to get him to the fence to climb on, I’d scratch him with the hay fork, he loved that, then I’d jump on.
‘Next bull we got was an asshole. Tried to kick me once when I was giving him grain. Blew the bucket right out of my hand.
My brother used to hold the cows tails and get dragged, lol.
Fuck we were bored.
‘My horse loved popcycles. He got half, I got the other. I got my half first, they drool too much.
‘It was the best thing my dad ever did for me was to move out to the farm. Lots of work, but peaceful.

@Sorbate They are all the things I dream of experiencing. I’m glad you got to experience that seems like you enjoyed it. Some people take it for granted but you truly enjoyed it. I envy you I love nature and being outside. I was Ill for so long the first thing I did when I was recovered enough was went for a walk in the woods. SaltyDawg

I always wanted to be a contractor for private military.
I know some guys that did it for a living. Unfortunately instead of training in the military in my 20s I was a gangster…which eventually landed me in the oilfield lol

@3ml How is the oilfield doing these days I don’t ever get a chance to talk to anyone in that business. Trudeau had to have made an awful mess of it. SaltyDawg

What job were you tired of? Are you an electrician?

Own a meat market.
I just like learning new things.
Ive saved myself a small fortune over the years fixing my own equipment, or building controls that turn temperatures up and down during peek power useage. I mean they are basic, like a 24v transformer attached to a battery back up timer, then 24volt n/o relays are used to close a circuit in the temperature control that turns on a offset temperature.

I also made my own motor control for the pickle pump I built. I had to replace a motor control on a grinder years ago, and then realized how they worked, and how simple it was.

Or the timer I built for the freezer. See it’s stupidly cold in there, so the staff would turn off the breaker to the refigeration unit, which was fine, but they would forget to turn it back on.

so I got a 3 pole n/c relay with a 24v coil and then wired my freezer thru the relay, then sent 24 volts to a minute timer I mounted on the wall to connect the coil on the relay. I use 24 volts so I don't have to use shielded cabling. So now they turn the timer, if they forget, once the timer runs out, it turns back on.

I bought a couple books and taught myself how to read wiring diagrams.
Where I learned how to make analog controls was from a 200in1 electronics kit, lol. Yes my wife bought me one for Christmas, lol. I think I was 26, and I was excited, lol.
It’s all real basic stuff, things a real electrician doesnt even need to think about to make.

I learned this for work because I had already mastered cutting meat and making sausage. It’s really not that tough, only takes a couple years at most, so I was dying of boredom and needed something new.

Grew up like this most of my life and into my adulthood and now own 2 different farms. Nothing like it, it is as you imagine. Hard work with a great satisfaction of accomplishing something for yourself and family at the days end, sleep like nothing else when you hit the hay.
Still have our horses etc and rent out my 2 farms and live on one of our acreages and work. Soon to be finished work, then sell everything and move somewhere and farm again, maybe not in this country..

I dreamt of working from home remote job, but still able to make good coin.
It happened!! wished long and hard and talked about it, and no shit out of the blue at that time in came a request to speak to me, done deal recently.
Still in my same field of managing big projects and trades folks managers and supervisors and reliability.
I am lucky but it takes a lot to get there. As i have to do everything five times and feel deep frustration, then when I've almost had enough, something jumps in and gives it to me, AFTER a lot of work.....

I can relate to that.....

I'd like to be a porn star, it looks like it would be lots of fun. Unfortunately I have no desirable attributes for that industry so I'm stuck being a customer.
I’m surprised it took 17 posts before some mentioned being a porn star. Kinda disappointed in this group
