In terms of how I think we should be doing it, I like the Nordic model as it tends to top every ranking on human development. It's basically democratic socialism, a term which will cause most Cons to gasp and clutch their pearls, but it's hard to argue with the results.
I have no issues helping people out, we are very socialist in our country.
We need more oversight in the help.
Since I am the type to do what it takes to get to my goals, I have a hard time with true socialism.
I guess if I wanted a more balanced life with family, time and so one I would embrace it.
When I think about all I sacrificed to get to where I am, being asked to share more of the extra, out of the notion I didn’t deserve it, or I’m blessed (lol, no I killed myself for it) kinda gets my guard up.
Now if I grew up in a different time, or area, my thoughts may be totally different.
But I graduated in 89, back then we were told, especially in Alberta that no one was going to help you, no silver spoon and you had to work for what you want.
BC when I lived there wasn’t the same way. A lot more was offered as far as social programs and so on. Same as here in Kingston. A lot of social programs. Is it great yes, but there is also a lot of abuse.
