Get down on one knee and then stand up without using your hands

easy enough when your younger but as you get older it can be difficult
so if you cannot do it start trying several times a day and eventually you should be able to do this

lack of mobility leads to fall risks and can make you end up in a nursing home

so if you cannot do this work at it because as you age it gets harder and harder

I can still do that no issues, but I have been forcing myself to put my socks on standing for years.

I got lazy for a bit and started to do it sitting down, then saw somewhere that it was great for balance.
If I get too unflexabke to do it, I start stretching more.

Super easy when you’re super close to the ground. Bwahahaha. Sorry, that one was just laying out there.

All jokes aside, getting to knees and getting back up without hands is super easy. Like you at the butcher shop, I do things like that in the jiu jitsu club while carrying 200 pound people. (they call it wrestling up from the bottom.)

I can do it, but it hurts like hell, and I feel like I'm going to blow a knee. 260 lbs on one replaced knee is probably not smart.

Damn.

My wifes kness are not the greatest, she can do it also, but you know it has pain, and she light.

260, that would put a lot of pressure on the knee, I’m only 175 right now.

Funny and likely true.

This is a scary fact isn't it. I have heard that the number one reason older folks end up in a care home is because of a fall and a broken hip, saw that that was statistically true many years ago so may still be. I also something about a very high death rate of folks after hip fractures within a year of the event. I know for sure that gym goers are not immune to this weakness either, I see many that neglect their legs.

That is how my great grandmother died. She fell and had a hip fracture, and got an operation, then passed pretty much right after. Mind you she was 102 years old back in the 80’s

I think we're all a head of thr game though, more muscle, stronger bones from resistence training etc. A lot of these statistics are probably based on average people i.e sickly, obese, inactive etc..

I remember a study where they could almost guess within the month when someone would die by the way they got up off the floor. I know the study was discontinued because the ones doing the study did not like the outcome and being so accurate.

I remember when my wifes mother’s boyfriend was over at the house. We were all getting in the pool, I asked if he was coming in, he said no because he was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to get back out (we have an inground pool with steps that are easy to climb). This was not normal for him, so after they left, I mentioned to my wife that I didn’t think he had much time left. About 2 weeks later he had a massive heart attack and passed./

The sitting rising test, the mortality rates where indeed greatly increased during the study of the people who couldn’t do it
Mind you if I recall correctly they were 80 plus year olds
