It’s all about balance. I play video games and have since I was super young. I still played football, rugby and went and got trashed every weekend at parties in high school. I have great social skills as well, which honesty I could even chalk up to video games in some ways. Talking with your pals on games for a couple hours every couple days helped me in my ability to communicate honestly.
Now, will say some people I game with see me as a “chad” as I see women whenever I want really. These guys maybe have 1 body under their belt (most of the time some chick they met online playing games too.) Some of these guys haven’t even been to a bar or party and they’re 20.
The issue is it’s supposed to be a source of entertainment, not your whole life. I’m sure there were always the gawky “nerds” in school during the 80s as an example. The ones who studied in the library, or went home and read into science magazines. I’m sure a lot of these people were in the same boat of lack of social skills as well as not going to events. Video games are just an easy outlet for these types of people to keep themselves entertained.
I’ll also say, if someone wants to stay home from the bar to play the new Call of Duty release, it’s not the end of the world. Just because it seems backwards to not want to go meet women, doesn’t mean they are wrong for it. It’s all personal preference. Back to what Animal was saying, the kids are spending to much time gaming and not getting the proper amount of sleep which is effecting there brains. That's where the parents should be stepping in and start parenting.

I won't have that with my kid, if it's a weekend or holidays then they are able to stay up a little later. Mind you my kids are still young and not in highschool.

My grandsons computer is in the basement. He goes to bed at 10, he is 13.
I look into his room if I don’t see his Ipad charging and tell him time for bed.

On the weekend I don’t care if he stays up late, but not too late, like no later than 1 am.
