Hey, so I took my truck in to get the DEF and EGR deletes today with an added 4 inch exhaust and baffles as I don't like the big noise etc. But appreciate letting a good diesel breath in and out.
I also put on a cold air intake as well as 4 program tuner, 60, 80, 100 and 150 HP programs with tranny shift improvements etc.
Should be around 650 HP now and 11-1200 Ft lbs of torque. It is going on a dyno after everything done later today, just because...lol
Anyone else have diesels on here that have done upgrades etc?
I am stoked to get in and give it a whirl now.
Platinum edition black truck, nice machines they are.

My 05 dodge 3500. Dyno’d at 606hp and 1246 ft lbs torque.

63mm borg Warner turbo
43% over II injectors
33% over cp3 injection pump
Fass 165gph fuel pump
ARP head studs
BD intake horn and metal tanked intercooler
Sinister fuel bowl delete so the fass goes straight through to the cp3
Turbo timer and all the gauges
Built BD auto trans for 700hp, haven’t slipped it yet *knock on wood*

it runs about 50 pounds of boost at 2600rpm under load, and smokes like a train when I put my foot into it. Great for doing burnouts on the rainbow crosswalks, it lights the tires up real good.

How many km on that beauty?

How many km on that beauty?

I bought it at 230, it’s now at 270

it kept me pretty busy in the first couple months of owning it. I’m a journeyman diesel mechanic myself so I went through it and made a complete list of work it needed done when I bought it and picked things off. Some new things came up along the way, and it didn’t have any of those mods when I bought it. Half of every paycheque I would put into a truck part account and do repairs and mods as the money came. It took a couple months to get it to where it is, But now it’s all done.

I became a diesel mechanic because I wanted to learn how to do these kind of things, and I’m very happy I did it because now that itch has been scratched. I will never do it again though lol way too much money that I won’t get back. Future truck will be nice and stock, if anything breaks I will put the most reliable after market parts on it I can find, and do some preventative things like emissions deletes and such. Lift and tires but everything else for reliability. Not chasing horsepower anymore lol I just want good fuel mileage and reliability and for it to feel nice and tight and responsive when I drive it.

Yep, horsepower is expensive. I’m done with it as well.
My next vehicle will be a lifted Jeep Truck, lol.

My dodge is a hemi. I have no use for diesel.
I do have an old camaro that if i ever take the time to build it, i have been thinking a twin turbo duramax. After 20+ yrs as a mechanic i just dont have the interest to fuck with vehicles anymore.
However i did by an old Massey farm tractor last fall that has a 5L Perkins diesel. Have been thinking of some mods just to play around during hick town tractor pulls. Haha

Jealous over here. I moved from Vancouver to rural Ontario, and now I'm saving up for my first-ever truck. I'd love to get a nice F-150, but damn they ain't cheap.

You can upgrade to a Duramax LOL...
sorry had too.

i do own a duramax... exhaust, DPF delete, EGR turned off, tuned, cold air intake.. I still drive it like a old man, but it will spin tires at 50km hour no issues.. I did the mods for fuel economoy, longevity and avoiding repairs..

What year is your PS? From what I know from fords... You deffinitely want to check if your year has headstud issues.. Might as well replace them before they cause more damage then it would cost to replace them.

Also, look into a lift pump... Lift pumps really help avoiding burning out injectors... The FASS systems are the best from my understanding.

Ive done 3 diesels now.. 2 of mine and one friends..

My next truck will be a stock GMC gas with the 6.4L I think...

I totally understand being glad to put in the work into a diesel truck, but not wanting to do it again lol...

Damn .. jealous of both of you ..
Two yes I will get a diesel..
Make due with my F150 which I love but need more torque for hauling my toys.

Have a 2019 f150 3.5 eco max tow/haul package on it, they say its rated for 13,000lbs. Tows a 4500lb 3 horse gooseneck trailer no problem, roughly 8000lbs when full of horses and tac no problem, gets about same fuel mileage towing as my dodge does empty lol I'm super impressed with the 150s

What gears do you have in your rear end?

That's a real beauty! I rented a 2018 RAM 1500 last fall for a hunting trip, it was a pleasure to drive.

Best upgrade you can do with a power stroke is trade it in for a Cummins! Lol I’ve had 12v 24v and the newer 6.7. Loved them all. But in all honesty I hate all the new diesels longevity is gone with them all.
I now drive a 2019 hemi and enjoy it

Nah, the powerstrokes are solid man, I also am a mechanic. Interior much nicer especially in the platinum model. Nicer ride and just all around sweet machine.

I also have a hemi 5.7l 1500 sport.
Also a nice machine, and all done up. Intake, exhaust, programmer, rear air bags and 4:10 gearing like in the power wagon, sucks fuel like it is going out of style with these diffs, but that is ok, I can blow a challenger tuned up a bit out of the water for a long way until they catch up, I drive my gas truck like I stole it, my diesel very rarely like that. Now a bit over 500 hp. Tons of power, but not a diesel....Not even close.
I haul a big travel trailer 35 foot long as well as our horses 4 at a time when packing out into the mountains for a week or so at a time. Hauling ATV's etc. on a trailer when we go with a big group of friends. I live in the mountains so I find it very beneficial.
Dyno yesterday at 650 hp and 1200 ft/lbs of torque.
Now much more reliable without the EGR and DEF and longevity of life. I know many folks with 400,000 plus kms on theirs.
I can add up to 150 HP from my programmer but I haven't ran it on the hiway with that HP yet.
100 HP is pretty wicked though.

I put on the MBRP exhaust so it doesn't sound ridiculous. Sounds pretty good without that overdone gross sound.
I now have 100,000 km on my truck, so I did the upgrades.

I guess it is easier when you can do most of the repairs yourself.

BTW, my buddy just did his cummings up and blew the studs on his heads 2 times in a month, same upgrades, common theme with the cummins.
Power stroke all day in hand or the diesel....lol

I will tell you about my Harleys in another thread for the gear heads that are interested in power and we can brag without being viewed as arrogant braggers. If viewed that way fack em. It is all about fun, and adrenaline, not chest thumping imo.
Hell we have to brag about something, may as well be about horsepower and vaginas.

Pretty sure I have 3.77 rear end .
It’s a 2016 5.0 with max tow , issue is my suspension is a fox 2.0 . Rear sits low when I tow my boat . Boat and trailer is about 8700 dry.
I had an ecoBoost when the first came out , great engine and power but so many codes and issues came up . Once it hit 100k I traded it for this.
Probably put rear spring helper so it doesn’t squat so much in rear.

trying to upload pic but having issues

the new 6.7s are very nice trucks. GM had the market with their Denali package in their trucks up until about 2015 and then ford took nicest truck with their platinums. Dodge never made a truck that could compare to ford and GM in my opinion. Comparing the same year truck, GM and Ford always had a nicer package.

However in the early years the lb7 duramaxs were poo and had too many expensive injector problems, and the ford 6.0 had too many EGR and Head gasket problems, so dodge blew them both out of the water for reliable power from 01-04.

ford responding trying to make their own common rail engine and came out with the 6.4 powerstroke, the worst Diesel engine ever produced.

if I was to buy another truck I would buy a 6 litre ford. You can get them cheap because everyone’s scared of them, but if you make them reliable and don’t drive like ken block, they are great trucks. If I had to buy a newer truck it would be either a platinum or a Denali.

not many problems with the head studs on these, Turbo runaways on a few, but I am not 18 anymore and respect my machines so I should be good to go.
I didn't go over the top on it. Just a nice little boost and longevity assurance.

This is my, Dodge Ram! Its the best truck ever! I do not know all the fancy names of the mods as vehicles is not my area of expertise. My husband is the vehicle guy and we only own one normal vehicle, all 2 other vehicles we have are modified or rare!

This is what I can tell you about my truck:

Its a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500, standard transmission, diesel, it has a big turbo in it so it makes a really loud turbo sound when I drive. It's an American truck with a smarty tuner in it so you can change the tune yourself, i do not know how to do this, all i have to do is watch my exhaust temperatures and make sure they do not go over a certain number. It also has a stainless steel exhaust with a big exhaust tube so its really loud. I work on construction sites and everyone loves my truck! I do not know how much power it has, but it has a lot, I do not do burnouts or anything fancy with it, I just drive it. I am sure it can do some cool stuff, but I don't like to drive my vehicles hard.

That's me hugging my truck in the picture because I love it sooooo much :)dodge ram .jpgOptimized-20200227_091547.jpg

what do your exhaust temps typically get too if you put your foot into it a bit? What are they when just cruising on the highway?
