Anyone try topical monoxidil with finasteride? Or, anyone have any experience using finasteride?

I'm not about to take any oral compound, as the sides tend to be worse for those who do, but if you have taken oral or topical please let me know what your experience was like. I've scoured reddit threads, but oddly enough there's not a ton of variety of those posting. My barber recommended minoxidil to prevent further shedding, but as soon as you stop using it hair loss will continue. Only fin will regrow hair. but it's an investment in time.
I'm likely going to get some minoxidil for now, until I have more info, plus get my DHT levels checked, and speak w my endo.

Go onto r/tressless on reddit. Its a whole sub dedicated to this. I use 5% minox foam and am adding in Finasteride as soon as it arrives. Going to do 0.5mg Ed.

I have alopecia and a slightly receded hairline from gear use. Otherwise I've been spared
Yeah, I've scoured that entire sub. I'm going to grab some minox foam asap, and then add in topical fin. At least that's the plan. I figure most of my thinning is due to low E2. Part of me thinks that once my body naturally balances I should get some regrowth, but I'm not leaving it to chance.

What strength is the minox foam you are using? I'm looking at ordering from minoxidilmax.com.

Thanks. I've been scouring those threads. Here's a link to an informative video

He discusses mediating side effects, and notes studies which have shown that as low as 0.25mg daily oral administration has been as effective as the prescribed dose of 1+mg. Topical is another way to reduce sides, although fin has a systemic effect due to the low molecular weight. He also notes studies, however, he may have been cherry picking. He's not selling or promoting a product, which adds a lot of credibility.

I'm still trying to find info to support or dispel the claim that deuteride is too heavy to become systemic. I don't believe it, as it has to be absorbed to be effective, so it much become systemic. Fin seems to be the best option, everyone responds differently. I'm a high responder so I will use topical that I will dilute.

If there's anything I've learned about the use of any drug is that it's best to only use what you need, more is not better.

I've been on finestride since I was 20 as I preventative measure using gear and I'm in my 30s now. Best decision I've ever made for my hair line with 0 sides personally I've been fortunate.

It does help regrow hair, the key is to use it before the follicle dies off and there is a chance it will regrow. Combine it with minox for ever better results

I just ordered some ru-58842 from vantanex at the recommendation of Nixter to try and stop some shedding from a test/primo cycle. I like the idea of stopping DHT at the site that’s causing the problem and not reducing DHT in the entire body with finasteride, which can come with a lot of side effects

Check out hairsupply.ca for Kirkland & Rogain minoxidil

Have used Minoxidilmax as the source and tried three products - topical RU, topical finasteride, and topical dutasteride. Also used oral finasteride for years - none have ever caused any side effects. I just decided to try topical dutasteride as of a few weeks ago.

Some people get nasty sexual side effects but I have never noticed anything.

Have you considered topical dut? Apparently, it can be used far less frequently. But, same goes for fin. Once I get the product I will start with fin 3x/wk, and dut once/wk. However, I've heard good things about ru, which can also be used less frequently b/c of the long half-life. I would start with minox to prevent excess shedding, so it seems as though you are on a good path.

Of the three which did you find helped most initially? Did you decide to switch to topical dut, or are you adding it while still taking fin?

Not sure where to get it! Aside from the minox anything I'd be using I'd UGL, unless it's fairly easy to get a script?

I was using RU but then fell out of it for some reason. I honestly find it a pain to do every day.

Oral finasteride about the same as topical and about the same as RU. I liked the combo (oral fin and topical RU). It is too early to know about topical dutasteride - I just ordered it and it just arrived.
Almost all studies show oral dutasteride works better than oral finasteride so I expect the same with the topical but we will see. I'm not mixing the two (dut and fin).

I took finasteride oral for years but didnt think it got sides but i stopped about a year ago and I think I actually may have had a few sides I just didnt notice. I ended up getting a hair treatment/transplant and will go an fill it in again since it needs it and just not go on anymore chemicals. However now that im getting into more gear/cycles I'm thinking of adding it during cycle. Maybe topical dutasteride or proscar since its covered on benefits.

I’ve used finasteride tablets for years never felt any sides but I’m also on trt so I’m not sure if that mitigates the sexual dysfunction side effects. I’ve also used topical minoxidil on and off for about a decade. Finasteride definatley works well for me the minoxidil I’m not sure because I’ve only used it with finasteride.

Not sure where you live but you don’t have to guess if you go to a reputable hair clinic they can swab your mouth and find out what you’ll respond to.

I've been on minoxadil for about a month ish now and my beard is already a bit thicker. An 8 week anavar cycle made it thicker too plus hopping on a testosterone cycle so it's hard to say what's all the minoxadil but the stuff definitely works. There's a subreddit and Facebook group "minoxabeards" or something similar.
