Anyone ever get an infection?

I have been taking Retatrutide for a while and the concern of the risk of infection is creeping into my mind.
I want to keep going with the peptide but am also concerned about issues with the injections.

I havnt experienced any problems yet after 13 injections. I always swab the vial and then the injection site with alcohol swabs. Always use a brand new needle out of package.

Just wondering if people have experienced many issues? Is dealing with that happening just part of the lifestyle? Or is it feasible to go a long time giving self administered subcutaneous injections and avoid any issues?

I had one vial of tesa out of 20 that had no vacuum when I reconstituted it, every injection from that particular vial gave me a reddish area size of a toonie and bad irritation/itchiness. Thats about as close as I have gotten. Really bad pip from test eth gave me a bad scare as well. Just be extra clean 👍

I have to do about 7 sub q injections a day for insulin. I stopped using alcohol and I even reuse the needles. No issues doing that.

Just make sure you use fresh bac water to mix it up and you'll be ok.

How fresh? I've got a bottle I used to reconstitute a vial about 4 weeks ago, should I get a new bac water bottle to reconstitute the next couple vials I have?

This reminded me of our retired vet. I asked him how do they clean the area before giving the dat an injection.

He saud they don’t and that he take insulin and sometimes even injects thru his clothes, no swab either. Said he has never had in issue.

I was still thinking, wtf?

I don’t use alcohol either, but I pin right out of the shower.

I have used 1.5 year old bac water without issue. If you wiped the top before drawing and always used a new needle to draw, can’t see how bacteria got in their to null the bac water.

One time, I got both triceps infected.. I waited as long as I could to go into the hospital, but it happened so fast that it really only took a 2-3 for it to be obvious I was in bad shape. I couldn't bend either arm and I felt fluish...

Went in, waited like 3 hours in ER.. Told Doc what happened and she said I had to be admitted for IV of antibiotics and obeservation.. told her "I know you can give me pills and send me home. If you won't give me the pills and tell me I need to be admitted over night, I'll just leave.. give me the pills and I promise if it doesn't clear up right away, I'll come back".. She gave pills..

I went to work that night as a bouncer.. hurt like hell anytime I needed to move arms.. After a couple days I was like 95% better

Damn man, you're true to your screen name, absolute animal. Was that from IM or subq?

The BA is there to prevent the bacteria from colonizing. So as long ad it's still there and there hasn't been a massive introduction of bacteria, it shouldn't colonize.

But you can't exactly tell when...so always a good idea to pitch it after a while.

Like a broken record....all infection prevention and control is ALWAYS a numbers game.

I was reading through a bunch of posts on reddit for diabetics and no one changed their needles for each shot or used alcohol. I've been doing this ever since I saw that.

For my humalog pen I only change my needle once it gets dull or bent. For lantus i use regular insulin syringes and I found I can usually get 4 shots before it gets too dull.

Chances of infection are far less with sub q shots than IM. Subq is generally not an overly hospitable environment...kinda sorta..

Even still, infections....true infections are pretty hard to get. But they do happen...and can happen no matter how careful one is. Posted once before already tonight. Moreso self inflicted....rather than dirty gear. Dirty gear would be pretty widespread and guyscwould be coming out of the woodwork if there was a truly tainted batch of product.

Infections are always a numbers game.... the microbe/ virus or whatever must be present, and must be given a hospitable environment where it can grow exponentially without our immune systems getting to them before they are colonized (bacteria) or cell tapped and replicating like a MF ( virus)

Bacteria being most common, viral probably next then probably fungal (not likely)

Ps - replicating like a MF is obviously a clinical/ technical term! Lol
