Senior pentegon official arrested in human trafficking operation

That's a great headline for a mediocre story.

If you read the story, it's this.

Some old guy, who happens to work at the pentagon, tried to pick up a hooker, who was actually an undercover cop, and a bunch of other people did the same thing.

oh, the horror. think of the children. oh the horror. how could this happen.

You know, I can't quite put my finger on when prostitution was rebranded as "human trafficking", but it was a great public relations move for law enforcement.

Lmao so true bro. Why I guess I happen to know a few human traffickers myself :p

It's hard to set up a sting and call it human trafficking, but ppl who pick up hookers must know that a % of them are victims of human trafficking.

When that guy picked up a hooker, he didn't know if it was a willing participant or someone forced into it. But it's not fair to him to call it human trafficking or say he was part of a human trafficking ring.

I think prostitution should be legalized to help with human trafficking amongst other things.

I can only imagine the tax our government would put on johns and hookers if they ever do legalize it.

I can't believe some high clearance government official would slum it up with low level hookers who turn out to be under cover cops. Prostitution is pretty much legal and you'd think he might have good enough connections to find a good hook up. Fucking guys national defense lol

lol some ppl actually get off on the "non fancy" type escorts..

Someone once told me, if you suspect her of being a undercover cop, you ask her point blank she has to tell you the truth, if she does not and lies to you...You can have the case thrown out, not sure if this is true!...Your thoughts guy's....

If it was that easy to expose UCs, there would be no point of being undercover. Everyone’s first question when committing acts of crime would be “are you an undercover cop” lol.
I’m not a cop or a lawyer, but I strongly doubt they have to answer you honestly or it’s thrown out of court.

That is false 100%

That is six shades of false.

Although, a couple of years ago, the state of Illinois became the first place in north america to pass a law that says police can't lie to children during police interrogations.

They were getting a lot of false confessions by interrogating kids for hours and then telling the exhausted and frightened children that they could go home if they confessed to being nearby, or knowing the suspect, or other things that police could use to get a conviction with.

Of course the cops in Illinois can still lie their asses off to adults during interrogations, and they lie to everyone everywhere else, including every province in Canada.

Google "george Stinney"

Another fun fact

In movies people can't be convicted with "circumstantial evidence". In the Criminal Law class I took in university, the teacher pointed out how that's nonsense. Many people convicted in a trial are convicted with only circumstantial evidence. Perhaps because of facts like that, there's a surprising number of innocent people in prison in Canada.

Also... In canada, there are laws about police talking to kids.. I think under a specific age they need parent permission or parent present. I'm not exactly sure of the age though

Specifically, the YCJA says:

  • During police questioning, a youth has the right to be accompanied by his or her parents or guardians, in addition to the right to a lawyer;
  • When a youth is arrested, detained or required to appear in court, their parents or guardians will be notified by police as soon as possible;
  • Parents or guardians will be notified if an "extrajudicial sanction" is used to hold the young person accountable;
  • The youth court can order that a parent or guardian attend a hearing along with the youth; and
  • A parent or guardian can put themselves forward as a "responsible person" during a young person’s bail hearing. Before a youth court decides to detain a young person in custody while waiting for trial, the court must determine whether there is a "responsible person" available to care for and supervise the young person instead of placing the young person in detention.

lol....

True but I bet if you picked up a hooker and she was an undercover cop and before you discussed terms you say "show me your tits first"... I bet a cop wouldn't show you her tits..
They've done worse. Some cops have to go to rehab after big undercover operations
