I think people have to keep in mind the percentage of people who transition and it dramatically changes their life for the positive. They don't have click-bate stories highlighting them as they wouldn't enrage the close-minded right. How many suicides do you think are on the other side of this story from kids who are forced to wait? Probably more than this one-off. While I see the dangers in doing this type of transition too early, there are dangers in not doing it. I do agree that being at least 18 is ideal, but it's not always ideal for the person in every situation. I also think these stories are important because they help others realize the gravity of their choice at such a young age. In my opinion, you can't have a blanket plan for this kind of thing. There will always be good stories and always be bad. We are unfortunately in a political time where this shit is in the spotlight, and really for no reason considering how much it's actually going on. If it's happening to .5% of the population, why does it feel like it's 25% of the news?
As others have stated there is a shit load leading up to a surgery like this, these surgeries aren't a walk-in situation. Was a mistake made? I guess so, but the person who got the surgery is very much responsible for it. I've made bad choices when I was young, but most, if not all are spur of the moment. Nothing that lasted 4 years.
