Hey guys. Big card coming up here. Who do you got?

I have Ngannou over Gane. I completely understand Gane has the superior footwork and technical skills – but if Ngannou can land clean … Plus, when Ngannou rematched Miocic, we saw saw glimpses of his wrestling, and it looked pretty good. One thing about Ngannou, he seems to improve so much between each fight.

For the co-main, I’m picking Figueredo over Moreno. This pick is more to do with my heart – I like Figueredo and find Moreno to be an annoying little punk. More than likely, Moreno will outlast Figueredo and get the W - but still, I'm going with Figueredo. ;) I’m just hoping Figueredo has worked on his gas tank for this one.

Who do you guys got?

I just bought tickets to 272.... I can't even concentrate on tomorrow

Ngannou weighed in at 257 and Gane at 247. A 10lb difference at heavyweight is not a big deal at all. Comparatively Miocic weighed in at 234lbs and Ngannou 263lbs for their fight, a 30lb difference is a much bigger deal and that would minimize Miocic‘s wrestling ability, think Adesanya vs Blachowicz, that weight dofference matters. IMO Ganes footwork, agility, cardio and variability will be too much for Ngannou. Ngannou has that nuke if it lands no doubt but I think Gane is quick enough and smart enough to stay out of range and I also think his ground game would be too much for Ngannou. Gane has also sparred with Ngannou many times so he knows first hand how the proper distance against Ngannou and also Ngannous strengths and weaknesses. I think first round Ngannou will come out aggressive and try to establish ring control and to be the more aggressive fighter, however, Ngannou is a one trick pony, I believe the game plan for Gane will be a lot of leg kicks out the gate to slow Ngannou down from blitzing at Gane, the rest of the round he circles and gauges distance and throws a lot of fakes to get Ngannou to react and tire his nervous system, leg kicks will slow Ngannou down and reduce the risk of fighting standup with him. Second round, a little bit of the same but Gane pressures more and backs Ngannou up, Ngannou adopts a more passive gameplan, Ngannou starts to respect Gane more and starts to get nervous because Gane survived his aggressive first round. Gane touches Ngannou up and takes him down midway through the second, Ngannou struggles to get up but doesnt take too mich damage. Third round Ngannou is now tired from being taken down, Gane starts off with some kicks, fakes high and shoots. Takes Ngannou down again, this time Ngannou is too tired to really defend, Gane gets really good ground and pound on him. Ngannou survives the round. Fourth round, Gane takes Ngannou down again, either finishes him with ground and pound or Ngannou is able to geg back to his feet, too tired to keep his guard up, Gane touches him up, throws a jab, hook and head kick combo, gets Ngannou, Ngannou goes down, Gane finishes him.

This or Ngannou knocks Gane out first round.

Gane just does not have the experience...Lewis is the only name on his record that was not past prime. (and Lewis is not a great fighter). Ngannou just has the edge in the categories that matter.

I actually think Figueredo...i heard someone call Moreno the "buster douglas" of mma. Not sure i go that far but if he does lose and he could if Figueredo had been training properly then he is a bit of a one hit wonder.

Only other fight i care about is Rodolfo Vieira on the under card.

Really a bit of lame card....Lets get this one over with and on to Whitaker/Adesanya

Nice play I feel like the fight already went down after reading that lol

I agree, I'm only really interested in the main and co-main for this one. I was also looking forward to the Vieira fight. Slightly interested in the Pereira fight.

Good analysis!

You're absolutely right, there was a much bigger weight difference in the Miocic fight. However, that same weight difference was there in the first Miocic fight, and Ngannou was manhandled in the wrestling. In the rematch, he was easily stuffing Miocic's attempts, and taking Mioicic down fairly easily (or so it seemed). Just pointing out the fast evolution of Ngannou's game.

It's been almost a year since his last fight, so I'm interested to see how many improvements (if any) that Ngannou has made.

Yeah you‘re right, it‘ll be really interesting to see what he brings. IMO though I also think Gane would convincingly beat Miocic too. I look at Gane and his style and I‘d say he‘s almost exactly a heavyweight Jon Jones with worse wrestling and better kickboxing.

I agree, a fight between Miocic and Gane would be a hard one for Miocic, especially with Miocic about to turn 40 this summer. I think his best days are behind him. I haven't seen enough of Gane (especially enough of his being really tested) to label him a HW version of Jones yet, but that could well be the case in the future. He definitely has both skill and natural athleticism.

Who knows, with Ngannou consistently improving his skill set, and Gane's already existing skill set, and both of their physical giftings ... this could end up being a trilogy to look forward to.

The main is probably the only fight I'll watch.

I wonder about the possibility of Ngannou tanking this fight so he can escape the champions clause and go chase big boxing money.;)

I was wondering that exact same thing. The only thing i was wrestling with was whether his 'brand' would be worth as much if he loses to Gane. But its definitely something i was wondering about ... :sneaky:

Yeah good point, the only part of that that I am at all confident about is that if Francis loses their will be plenty of shit written about it. Guess we'll know more in a few hours
