Does anyone have a tester they use at home to check hemoglobin/ rbc count? Like the finger prick ones. Im thinking this might be the best way to keep an eye on it, so I know when to donate. Anyone have anything like this?

Im gonna bump this.. maybe I put it in the wrong forum? Looks like theres even apps that use your phone that work.. not sure if I trust them. But apparently they work

i know you can get it from amazon, but its not as accurate as a full out blood test at a clinic due to sample size etc.

Why not just give blood every three months.

I have high RBC without AAS so I’ve been giving blood since high school. Covid has made it highly inconvenient but I plan to start up again in the new year.

Why do you want to do this? Do you have a chronic condition or just worried about elevated levels while on cycle?

Just to keep an eye on it to know when to donate, without having to get bloodwork everytime. Normally Im good for 6 months or so on or off cycle before its high

You could likely buy the real machine from alibaba, but it like,y wouldn’t be cheap.

hydration is important on these and can be skewed in either direction by 2-3 points. ie. hydrated could show up as 51 but retest a day later after fully hydrated and your now 48.

here is a quick way to do this and make sure its accurate. go to blood.ca and book an appt. once you walk in they will check your hemoglobin on spot. you divide that by 3 and that's a pretty good estimate as to where your hematocrit is.

if its good back out, if not go ahead and donate. (few times i said i gotta go and will rebook they had zero issues cause it was fine)

Yup, I would suggest doing exactly as @iron sing says....that is what I had planned on doing. Your hemoglobin isn't going to skyrocket so I would say you're pretty safe to just get it checked with your routine bloodwork and then if you're worried that it might be high go in and donate. They check your hemoglobin before you are even allowed to donate so you will know right away....they probably wont tell you what the reading is though unless you ask. So when they prick your finger and get the blood to do the test you can just ask them what the level is out of curiosity. You still have the option to not go ahead with the donation all the way until they stick you. It's really easy and perfectly fine to tell them that all of a sudden you are feeling a bit off and you would like to cancel the appointment and rebook.

I know people who volunteer at the blood bank.
I don’t know if I’d feel good about wasting their time if I didn’t donate.
Shit if you are there, might as well give.

I do agree with you Sorb as I have never actually not went through with a donation after getting there and booked in. However, I disagree about wasting their time because if your hemoglobin was too high or too low they won't let you donate either so if you chose not to donate after getting your hemoglobin level it would have taken up literally five minutes of their time.
Donating just because you can isn't always the smartest thing to do either, it is very easy to tank your ferritin from donating too often. I have done this to myself and I assure you it does not feel great to have a tanked ferritin level.

I can only speak from my own personal experiences but I personally think you are could be overly concerned about a issue that may not be affecting you @Cheapshot. Have you been diagnosed with having erythrocytosis or secondary polycythemia? Do you have hemochromatosis? What is the highest your RBC and/or hemoglobin have been? You are on TRT but is it doctor prescribed? Do you do regular blood work?

No never been diagnosed with anything like that. Im not on prescription trt. Just self medicated and my doc doesn't give me regular bloodwork. Normally twice a year if im lucky. My rbc is Normally high but not scary high. Cant even remember the numbers. But they always say its a great time for me to donate when they see it.
