Review the last movie you watched

I dont really watch anything new, nothing beats 90's action movies and I've got a hard drive full of them.

Halloween is coming and I don't do horror movies, so just watched Scary Movie 3. It really makes you think.

Let's see...

A star is born. Not as good as most of the hype I heard for it. It was good, but fell a bit short of my expectations. Kind of turns and characters we've seen done before. Seemed a bit long too. Maybe 6.5 out of 10

6 underground - Very slick and modern looking. Lots of action, but didn't blow me away (no pun intended lol.) It was OK. I'd say maybe 6.5 again.

Friday the 13th Part 8 Jason takes Manhattan. Big fan of the series, as you maybe can tell. I saw most of it before like a decade ago or more when I was younger. Watched it all this time. It;s pretty bad. Entertaining in parts, but out of the first 8, the worst one, my opinion. Ugh. 6 out of 10.

Upgrade- Quite good. I liked it, some action, some drama, some futuristic ideas but not too overpowering. Some nice twists and subtle changes to previously seen ideas. 7.5 out of 10.

Hunter Killer - Really enjoyed it. Submarine, military war missions political turmoil type thing. Really liked it. Enjoyed the end too. Good actors and good story if you like political action drama type films. I'd say maybe as high as 8 out of 10.

EDtv - Comedy drama type from late 90's. Some well known actors in it, seemed like a good premise. You know, kind of a light-hearted 90's mainstream kind of entertainment movie. It was good, but not great. Seemed to drag a bit. Maybe 7 out of 10, maybe, or 6.75 haha

Watching The Irishman next I think. I'll update you when I'm done in a week as it's 3.5 hrs long!! Lol.

Not a movie, but we just finished watching the entire Suits series. We didn't know what to expect going into it, but as we got a few episodes in we started to like it more, then after like a season (there's 9 total) we were like, yea, this is good.

It's kind of a mix of Law and Order and West Wing. (Some actors and producers from WW, and a couple from L&O) Like a political lawyer business man type drama, (and maybe some prison break ;) with some comedic parts spashed in. All in all, we were very impressed. By halfway through we were completely hooked, and sad to see it end. Many of the actors in it are really great, talented.

Not all of it was realistic, of course, but overall, very entertaining if you like that sort of thing. Overall I'd give it an 8, if not an 8.5 out of 10.

The Irishman was a well made movie, but by all accounts Sheeran had nothing to do with Hoffa's murder or disappearance. Not surprising that a sociopath would attempt to self-aggrandize in his dying days. I do prefer the title of the book upon which the move was based, 'I heard you paint houses.' I never heard the phrase before but, given the context it's most certainly a good thing, lol.

OK, so yes, thanks for reminding me. We did watch the Irishman. It was good. It was better than I expected it to be. I wondered if it'd be a tired reworking of a mafia type gangster movie that Scorsese had already done before. But it had some good character development, interesting situations, kept you interested even over that long of a film. Decent ending. Overall I dunno, maybe 7.5 out of 10

I looked back in my history and after suits we went on a bit of an old horror movie kick. We watched:

Cheerleader Camp. Good. It is likely nearly exactly what you'd expect. From 1988 I believe. Some goofy dudes, some dramatic babes, at a camp for some cheer-leading cheer-off, and add in some type of killer. Lol. Honestly though I was really expecting it to be bad. It had some decent quality, some OK acting here and there, and they kept you guessing. Some well done gore and of course some gratuitous nudity. (Has Teri Weigel in it, porn actress I think before she even started doing porn!) Maybe a 7 out of 10. It was entertaining.

The Black Room. 1982. Another underground kind of horror/thriller. I liked the atmosphere in it. It had that weird dark grimy kind of look to it. It has Linnea Quiguley from Return of the Living Dead fame, and also maybe the youngest Christopher McDonald I've ever seen. Gotta be his first role. Love seeing the amount of famous or semi-famous people that got their start in old horror movies. Very cool, I think. Anyway, yea had some weird atmosphere and takes you on a bit of a ride. Kind of a twist around the end. If you like old horror flicks, then give it a try. I'd say a good 7 out of 10 if not 7.5.

Visiting Hours. 1982. Another old horror/thriller. About a newslady that is vocal about an opinion against some powerful people. She ends up getting attacked in her home, then in the hospital to recover. She starts to learn more about the investigation and things start to not add up. Or is she nuts? Lol. Michael Ironside and William Shatner star. It was good. Not entirely believable in some parts, but what movie truly is. Creative license right? Lol. I enjoyed it though, we both did, for what it is. 7 out of 10 I'd say.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) - a Spielberg movie. Pretty good. About the future and robots. Saw it on primevideo.

Watched a movie last night, was pleasantly surprised.

Molly's Game - 2017. Sort of a drama, action, comedy. Well, the last 2 elements are pretty thin, there's some, but by and large it's a drama. It's about an ex Olympian turned gambling game boss. I didn't know what to expect going in, just a couple actors that I recognized (Kevin Costner was cast well! Lol) It actually turned out to have a bit more to it than I originally expected, more drama, some twists, good story, good characters (I liked her lawyer's character.) I Wasn't expecting much, but turned out I enjoyed it quite a bit. From Aaron Sorkin, so, I guess, had I known that going in I wouldn't be so surprised. 7.5 if not nearly an 8 out of 10. :)

wrath of man- jason statham shoots a bunch of motherfuckers. definitely a good covid waste of time.
guy ritchie redeems himself after that pos the gentlemen. thought that was his last movie.

For the DC Comic Fans, the Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League. The first one was massacred by Josh Whedon, who is nothing by a corporate lackey. The new release is a whopping 4 hrs, but it tells the tale as it was meant to be.

Another one I really liked was Logan, which I'm sure most have seen, but if not and you're a fan of the Wolverine, it's a must see.

I was going to watch this the other night, guess I'll give it a chance after all

recently I watched all the marvel movies in chronological order with my kids. Honestly, it's a pretty good storyline that ties in really well for movies made over a decade.

the tomorrow war
action sci fi. doesnt make any fkn sense but most of these movies dont. enjoyable flick. i downloaded it.
I just finished it and it’s very enjoyable.
They can’t explain the science and don’t explain many things but the objective at hand with the added drama made it well worth the time spent.

I watched it on prime video.
