Is there any good apps out there than can be used to simplify food calculations? Id like to start my next training phase and update my diet as well. Looking for an app that will allow me juat to type in a food ,( or entire meals) and have my macros calculated. Sure i can sit and do it by hand just lookin for a time saver

Yup MFP for me too.
A couple of caveats that I think are extremely important IMO especially for anyone using with serious intent.

I'd suggest that you need to invest a bit of prep time to make it easy to use.
The main issue is that a large portion of the preloaded info is crowd sourced and often wildly inaccurate or incomplete .
To avoid costly errors I always suggest to create your own food items and source the macro nutrient data yourself.
Personalize them with some identifying feature like an asterisk or initials or something so the are easy to find.
I've found that I only usually eat maybe 30 different food items so this doesnt take too long.
Be careful what unit of measure you use when doing this, I use quantity = 1 and 100g most often.
I pull my info from https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/fdc-app.html#/food-details/173944/nutrients or https://nutritiondata.self.com/
Another useful feature is to create "meals" so be sure to check that out, they can be adjust if you need to after they are added to your day.
I'm sure there's more, that's all I can think of atm, good luck

I like chronometer because it includes macros and micros pulled right from the usda database. I believe the premium version lets you put in whole meals at a time

I also use my fitness pal, I saw a video where CBUM said he uses the free version himself for tracking.

This app is now filled with ads, I can’t stand it. I’ve been tempted to try Macrofactor. I know a few people who love it but it’s a paid app. It does more than just tracking, you input your weight and it adjusts your cals based on your goals

I use mine off my Fitbit app . You can scan stuff on the go and it memorized meals if you pinch them in.

Bump, what app's are people currently using?
When I was tracking my food myself, I'd use MyFitnessPal. The app has pretty much all the food options out there and you can add your own. You can also add recipes and it's dummy-proof. I found the paid version for free online so I still keep it on my phone if ever I want to use it.

I use grok on X. You have to punch it in everyday but I find it pretty easy and if you stay in the same convo each time it remembers all your details and specifications.

I used to use MyFitnessPal, cbum uses the free version or at least he used to. I eat pretty much the same all the time so I haven't been tracking for over a year. When I'm bulking I have extra carbs (usually a couple snacks like muffins, cookies, chocolate, ice cream etc.) when I'm cutting I remove those extra carbs, when fat loss stalls I just start replacing some of my clean carbs like rice or pasta with veggies for filler. I removed the snacks this week and I crave something delicious every day right now but it will pass soon. If I wanted to do a show or something I'd use an app again but I don't need it for my goals anymore.

I find the standalone app way more stable. The tab on X got very laggy on me and started crashing the app.

I have the android app myself and I find it pretty interesting to bounce ideas off of. I even asked it to build a meso with certain criteria like time constraints and frequency, it did a pretty good job although I think it underestimates warm up times for stuff like heavy barbell compounds, I'm not warming up for squats in 3 minutes but if you tell it that it makes adjustments. Compared to chat gpt grok is way faster and feels more natural like talking to a human.

I also ask it some abstract questions like does it enjoy talking about any topics in particular. Grok told me its fascinated by how humans like to push themselves mentally and physically but is down for talking about anything.

I put in a bunch of blood test results and asked it to make the the optimal dose and frequency schedule.

Trying it now.
