Blood pressure

Is there a reason you prefer taking your asparin before bed as apposed to upon waking?
There are long term studies that show taking low dose aspirin taken at bed time reduces your BP significantly more than taking it in the morning. Why - I don't know but that is what the literature says. I am pretty sure I posted the study here.

If you do a search of check out the health section, I suspect you will find it.

Blood pressure isn't called the silent killer for fun. One of the few health markers we can control with some work. Having healthy BP and a low resting heart rate has been an indicator of overall health for a long time.
Its good the doctor didn't ignore those numbers albeit white coat syndrome is a real issue. When you see your doctor or are about to have your BP taken make sure you have been sitting down first for a few minutes, and breath with your stomach. Deep stomach breaths will lower your RHR and BP if done for a few minutes.

I didn't read every post but everyone has to decide how much they want to pay for supplements and how many they want to take. I only take one for BP now (Nigella Sativa) but if my BP spiked I would add in one supplement at a time and give it a week. I'm not as big as some of you and sit around 6 feet tall 225. I am limited on my cardio due to a torn meniscus so I have to get creative but all my markers are in check.
1. Nightly low dose aspirin - everyone has to decide if the bleeding risk is worth it. Risk vs. reward - I consider aspirin (low dose enteric coated to be an amazing drug but like all NSAIDs it comes with risks).
2. 15 minute walks a few times a day after meals.
3. stress reduction - I'm pretty relaxed most of the time but like everyone I'm not a robot.
4. Get enough sleep and make sure it is quality sleep. If your a huge person, get checked for sleep apnea. When I went up to 240 I snored like a chainsaw and wasn't breathing for a disconcerting amount of time.
5. Keep your weight under control - @Harley00 made reference to this earlier. When I start script HGH, I retain some water and will add in 100 mg of Q10 and 100 mg of ubiquinol (don't ask why but I know 100 of each works better than 200 mg of ubiquinol for me). I retain water on GH for the first month or two and my rhr goes up a few points and my BP goes up 10 systolic and diastolic.
6. Drink lots of water and if your able to incorporate cardio into your exercise regimen.
Most of the aforementioned items don't cost anything other than aspirin as most sleep apnea tests and equipment is covered by insurance.

If you are going to take supplements - many that work well have already been mentioned.
1. Look up the studies on Nigella Sativa - there are a lot of double blind placebo studies.
2. Fish oil - 10,000 mg of combined EPA and DHA can significantly reduce your BP but you are kind of double dipping if your taking fish oil and aspirin. Throw in the curcurmin many take and you are taking three compounds that are essentially doing the same thing.
3. Ubiquinol and Q10 - I posted some literature but can't recall if I posted it here showing ubiquinol is better for older folks (over 35 if I recall correct), and Q10 is just as good for younger people. That being said, I'm in my 40's and there is no question the combo works better for me.

I have never needed any more than what I mentioned but lots of guys use citrus begamot, hawthorne, and ED drugs like cialis. I can't recall where but @Sorbate may - I took pictures of the pages of BP from one of my natural medicine books and posted the pictures.

I have droned on long enough but if you have high blood pressure, supplements and life style changes can make a difference but see your doctor to be safe.

I'm not bragging in the least, I'm sure part is due to genetics. I'm not a small man and I'm in my 40's and I hate cardio. I will never go jogging or go on a stepper for 30 minutes. The only cardio I do is cardio I like. I like walking my dogs, it is great for stress, bonds with my animals, and we love finding new trails or just enjoying nature. At least a few long hikes a week pending my knee isn't too sore. Hence the 15 minutes walks after meals as well - my dogs wait for me to finish and they run to the door and dance with excitement. They enjoy it as much as I do.

I love to fight and I don't mean on the street anymore but heavy bag work or with XL BOB and with a torn meniscus I am limited so I try to do 6 5 minute sessions at least 3 times a week. With Covid, I still train in a garage with friends but with my F'n knee I am limited with kicks and Judo throws so I make the best of what I can do. Regardless, I enjoy it and I get to hand out with my buddies.
Obviously sex is a great cardio workout and is enjoyable - suspect that goes without saying.

Find something you like doing for cardio and it will come easy.

Each to their own and some guys eat a body building diet and when they post it they don't have one fruit or vegetable included on an ongoing basis. There was a gent that was claimed to have a degree in nutrition and posted a pic and was absolutely ripped. If I recall correct, he used test and var or t-bol most of the time. Yes, he looked great and posted his diet he eats everyday. There wasn't one vegetable or fruit on his diet and he ate the same thing everyday. As I always say each to their own but in my opinion that is playing with fire.

Fiber is important and both are rich sources of antioxidants to protect your body from free radicals. If you can incorporate them in without messing your macro balance - do it. Diet alone can make a huge change in your blood markers and BP, without sacrificing your calories or macro balance if you pick the right veggies.

As I mentioned I am doing f all for cardio other than sex and some training / bag or pad work. My resting heart rate while I'm drinking my morning coffee is around 50, if I take it later it is mid 40's to 50. People should strive to get their resting heart rate down as much as they strive to get their BP down.

Some people will never hit ideal numbers due to genetics or the compounds they take but be responsible and monitor what you can and consider you longevity. It is great to look good for a few months but not at the expense of being hospitalized and damaging your organs.
Just my take - not a doc but have worked to get my RHR and BP into the ideal range.

Is there a certain brand you use of the nigella sativa? Ive never done any research on this. Im gonna look into it.

On a side note. Would my sex as cardio be considered HIT? since its high intensity for like 1-2 mins..haha

This is my preferred brand but I'm sure there are other good ones. It comes in non pill form as well but for ease of use I buy the pill form. Take 500 mg twice a day. It has a host of other health benefits being coined the 'miracle herb'.

LOL - 1-2 minutes.

My go to as well

short answer - What I would do minus lengthy explanations but areas you may wish to look at closely.

Close examination of potassium/magnesium/calcium balance. Avoid citrates of any sort, they mess with iron/copper/ceruloplasmin

Fish oil - I'm pretty sure my response to FO doses as related to BP are atypical FYI. Have experimented in the past (posted here somewhere?) with controls as tight as possible, I take 12g per day. Actual EP/DHA content is what matters though, check labels as their is a huge variance. That dose keeps me one whole zone lower than without.

Bloodletting/donating but not without checking all other values to make sure it's appropriate.
Citrates, hey? I will look into this

Man, I am shocked my blood pressure isn’t higher. I am on vibrate and run all day. 4 cups of coffee and ephedrine before training.
Over the years I have learned to turn it on and be able to run without stims, but its way more fun with, lol.

Cialis is my go to. Not only is it great for your prostate when you run too much primo and you feel like someone pinched off your dick, lol, but it drops my bp by 10 points. To bad the heartburn.
I find 5 mg every 3 days seems to be just perfect, the heartburn is manageable. I find if I consciously contract my throat when I need to burp, things go fine.

I’m going to try the Nigella Sativa.

What is the benefit you like the best from low dose aspirin? The thinning of the blood?

Heavy reading, I found the subject to be complicated as hell. Basically learned enough to form the opinion that I will avoid it where I can. Sometimes their a lots of other options and with other things it's very hard to avoid.

The benefits of low dose aspirin at night are extensive so its hard to pick one. Number one is it drops your BP and you can see this in your numbers quickly, there is more evidence and studies coming out showing an huge decrease in cancers like liver and bowel with people who use aspirin. Many of the studies are people who take 325 mg twice a week.

It is being studied as an ingredient in drugs that worked well but were too toxic to the liver and pulled from the market. Companies are finding the drugs are not as toxic when mixed with aspirin.

Lowers BP, prevents clots, protects organs from toxic substances, prevents cancer, etc. I find the risk/reward worth it and we are essentially the same age.
Yes, there are bleeding risks but there are with anything that prevents clots. Possibility of ulcers and heart burn but I will continue.

Inflammation, as a general rule, is the bodies enemy for many diseases and a low dose of 81 mg a day has been proven to lower body inflammation.

You may have to take Nigella Sativa for a few weeks before you see a difference. It is one of the few herbs that have a lot of double blind placebo studies indicating it lowers BP by 10 points. That is comparable to a lot of medications.

So just take the asprin once a day then just like they recommend.
I won’t worry about bleeding, they think I’m a freak at work because I don’t really bleed that much. I ve always been that way.

Yes, just take 81 mg of enteric coated aspirin but take it at night if your taking it for BP and the other benefits. For whatever reason the time you take it has a large connection to lower BP. A quick search and you can find a lot of literature on BP and aspirin and how important it is to take it at night.

I picked some up last night. I think I'll try it for a couple weeks and see what it does.
Only down side is bleeding, but I am the opposite of a bleeder. I cut myself and i don't bleed much at all unless its pretty drastic. The other butchers think I'm an alien, so maybe I'll bleed like a normal human then, lol.

I am just curious about the blood pressure thing.

I also bought a hemoglobin testing machine. Lets see what happens there.

I've recently started using a CPAP, and my BP has dropped considerably (from approx. 145/75 down to approx. 125/65). I had already been on 2 different meds for my BP, and thats as low as it seemed to get until I started using the CPAP.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, given a CPAP, and it has been a Godsend. My BP is down, my blood sugar is down, my sleep is much better, and my energy levels are much higher.

Never hurts to get tested for sleep apnea.

Insomnia or sleep deprivation is a major factor in high BP. If your a big guy, snore, and have sleep apnea - a CPAP machine is a game changer in proper sleep.
