Bloggers!

I'm not on any social media, but it does amaze me that some bloggers, or influencers, or whatever they call themselves, are able to earn a significant income doing nothing. Same for youtube stars, like those tards that kids watch playing video games instead of playing the games themselves. And this inspires more kids to do this thinking it's an easy way out... it's sad really, furthering the degradation of society.

Go and talk to a bunch of kids ages 6-18 and ask them what they want to be when they grow up.. you'd be shocked at how man ywill say youtubers/gamers/ tik tok etc

I ended up chatting with a friend of a friend at a gathering one weekend. The guy I spoke to was about 15 years younger, and he showed me a youtube link that brought up a crapload of videos all made by a classmate of his from high school. The guy lives in L.A. and has done very well for himself. He owns a big house, has a bunch of nice cars/toys, and all from the videos he made. On average, each video had been viewed ~30 million times, and there are a lot of them. I wish I could remember something to post a link, b/c there's nothing to them. There's content, but I was amazed at the life this guy was able to have just from those videos. Anyone who is a good salesperson could make a decent income if they can brand themselves in a similar fashion. I don't see the appeal, but I'm glad I didn't have to deal with social media like kids do today, or the internet.

The way I see it, if you have a good personality, good looking, do something that people also really like, got a good camera and slowly build your name you can deffinitely make a living..

That being siad, there's tons of youtubers who never amount to anything...

Have you ever tried to make a video? I used a go pro before and once in awhile my cell phoen to try to document some hunting trips, trapping stuff etc.. It's incredibly hard to make it look anything more than early 70's amature porn.

I haven’t had cable in many years
I just recently signed up for stack TV tribal on amazon prime, it quickly reminded me why I hate cable and why most people in this world have brains of mush

As far as youtube there is kids of crap in there. There is also some very good content. I watch a lot of stuff about travelling, living in different countries.

I have also gained a pile of knowledge about financials from YouTube as well.

Just like anywhere else you need to do your own research and check facts.

The thing I like about youtube is it levels the playing field. Anyone with a good idea and that ability to edit can eventually make some decent money on there. It’s nice to see Hollywood not decide what we watch.

My main gripe with Youtube is the ever increasing censorship and commercials
Been hearing good things about Patreon might have to check it out

My grandson likes to watch videos of gamers, it’s how he learns to play the games, find Easter eggs and so on.
Plus, it is mesmerizing to watch, really no different than watching a sitcom, or any other tv show or video.
I like the fan made cut scene movies they make from some games.

How kids learn the easy way out is from their parents. For example even when I played dinosaurs with my grandson, he didn’t always win, or had to work hard to beat me. Same as when he goes to give up at something because he isn’t perfect from the start, I explain to him that you need to practice to get good at something. No one was perfect at the start. It’s something you instill in them, they don’t get lazy from games. Then I don’t let him give up.

He also watches Jaden Animation, her platform is really informative, talks about her life, feeling and such.
He also has learned a great deal off of you tube. Numerous times he will tell me some fact, I think he’s full of shit, then pulls it up on google and proves me wrong,
The amount of knowledge he has learned about science, there is not a single thing about dinosaurs he doesn’t know.

Now I’ll agree that some of the guys on you tube suck, I cannot understand why anyone watches them, but why do people watch big brother on tv? So same same I guess.

It’s funny because I used to think the same way as you, but as my grandson gets older and I realize the amount of information he has learned from these people, my attitude is staring to change.

The world is changing, us dinosaurs are just not with the times, lol.

All valid points, this one in particular. I'm on the outer edge of the generation that should get it, but I just don't.

I don't entitely hate youtube. This channel is really interesting and I'll listen randomly:

Nah, I have go-pro, it was a gift. I considered taking it when I fish, but like you said the video quality is terrible. The guys who are making quality, watchable videos have people who know what they are doing, and not some camera attached to their head.

I mainly use youtube for fly-tying and fly-fishing videos. I will use it for various teaching aids as well.
