Fuck, I have most of my crypto dough there (thank god, not lots, under a grand) but suddenly they're gone. But it still sucks... sigh...

Gerald Cotton,30,died recently from Crohn's disease. He had the passwords.190 million is locked up.Experts cannot get past the encryption on his laptop.

Lots of conspiracy around the subject, people asserting maybe the owner faked his death in order to run off with remaining cash. Apparently some wallets are still making transactions post-"mortem. In the meantime Kraken seems like a good solution for Canadian traders

Someone made an analysis in a reddit thread.

1 - They had no identifiable large cold storage.
2 - They paid withdrawals from deposits frequently from Nov 2018.
3 - They didn't seem to lose access to any Bitcoin holdings.
4 - They didn't have nearly as much assets as claimed.
5 - At least some of the withdrawal delays were due to them not having available funds and waiting on deposits.

Everyone is saying that the guy went to India where it's easy to buy a fake death certificate as this is probably an exit Ponzi scheme

Sucks for everyone that got scammed.

Yeah in the end I'm one of the lucky ones who managed to pull out funds in December 2017. I've probably only put a couple thousand of my own dollars in there but the capital gains from my initial investment made me tens of thousands. I know I only would've been losing a couple grand of my own money but had I seen those numbers continue to rise and then not been able to pull them out, I think I would've been pretty devastated.

135 million or so in cold wallets.Have not heard where the body ended up.....funeral pyre?

I'm not sure life with 135 million in cryptos and the entire world watching your wallet/trying to hunt you down is really worth it, if it is an exit scam.

No talk of a body....100 plus million, plastic surgery.....he may have already cashed in.....

He filed a will12 days before his death.Fortis Escorts Hospital in Jaipur Rajasthan.Hospital could not be reached for comment.More than a month to disclose his death. He must have cleaned out everything he could and now there is no way to confirm this due to the strongly encrypted admin laptop.

Damn, what shitty news.

Crypto freaks me out and I would never put one cent in that sketchy ass system, oh hell no...

Yeah the will being filed 2 weeks out sure makes things iffy. Like If you know you're on your deathbed maybe you share those passwords with someone you trust...

Apparently for over a year rumors have floated that co-founder Michael Patryn might be convicted scammer and identity thief Omar Dhanani.....

Just took a look at the Reddit thread, bummer. Doesn't look great. I don't understand how the backing banks here aren't somewhat liable. Any bank opening these business accounts has to complete their due dilligence in IDing and backgrounding client sign ups. These weed companies have had to jump through hoops with financial institutions so it's crazy to me to think a convicted felon could slip through the cracks.
