Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)

HGH

I have been battling this disease for 25 yrs
Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a type of inflammatory arthritis that affects the spine and the sacroiliac joints that attach the pelvis to the base of the spine. ‘Ankylosing’ means fusing and ‘spondylitis’ means inflammation of the spine. As well as being a form of inflammatory arthritis, AS is also an autoimmune disease, meaning the body’s own immune system attacks healthy tissue.
I’m wondering if HGH would help with inflammation?.

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear about your disease,

I could be completely wrong but I’d assume gh would cause more inflammation? Edema, carpel tunnel, water retention, insulin resistance, joint pain

but I know nothing about your autoimmune disease

I also have AS which I’ve been battling for 25 years as well. I’ve considered HGH and even bought some, but my rheumatologist wouldn’t recommend it and could exacerbate my condition. My AS is well controlled at the moment using the biologic medication Simponi. However, I’m still thinking about doing a short run for a couple of weeks in the future to see how I react

I’ve taken HGH a few times and felt great doing it, anything I’ve read says it will help with inflammation? I’ve only taken it for at most 10 weeks at a time. I just don’t want it to get worse as I was thinking to take it for at least 6 months to a year? My rheum thought I was nuts for even asking.

id ask the doc for an explanation whether it can be of benefit or make things worse and why

Thanks @Bagua for the heads-up.

This is an extremely specific and subspecialist question, and with that said, I'm not even sure a Rheumatologist can answer due to the fact HGH is not a treatment there is any strong evidence for with AS. A brief literature review had mixed responses in small trials involving Rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile arthritis; and while these are other inflammatory conditions, they are different.

The truth is, you are going into uncharted territory with this treatment, and the major risks would be precipitating a flare of your condition. Simply because of the fact I don't know what HGH would do, I too would also advise against it, but if you decide to push forward, be judicious with your use and have extra close monitoring.

Wish I could be of more help here.
PM me if you have any further questions.

Christ, there are 3 of us here! Diagnosed really, reaaally late - in my early 40's (!! That's very rare, usually it's at 15-20)

I almost wonder if it might end up speeding up the process. Just a gut feeling. I don't see how it would slow it down. Treating the symptoms? Hmmm...not convinced either. And factor in that we're not talking about a $100/month product here? Again, hmmm...

Having said that, keeping active to the best of our abilities is of great help. God knows I've smartly adapted my workout, I've had to - lower weights, using machines where using free weights might outright be dangerous, etc...

Holy shit I didn’t figure I’d see one guy let alone 3 lol

Ya for sure that’s late to be diagnosed, I was diagnosed at 19 I believe, but had symptoms for a few years before getting looked at.
My AS is “burnt out”, Seems to be a lot less pain/spasms etc

I’ve done a lot of research on this and I’ve read that it could help with inflammation which is half are battle right?
I’m doing 4 iu daily for 6 month but I’m watching very closely and if I notice anything wrong I’ll stop. But if I feel good imma keep on going 👍

I hear ya on the workouts lol, lots of stuff I used to be able to do that I can’t or will not do now.

Most of us here push the envelope with our chemical use, I suppose! Best wishes and I hope it works for you. I just don't have the $$$ for HGH, AS or no AS lol. But God knows working out keeps me feeling OK, and I still look good, so there's that. :)

I'm not sure if you have heard this girls story. Mikhaila Peterson, she has a severe rheumatoid arthritis as a child and depression and Kindof cured it though her diet. I thought I may find this very interesting due to the fact that you have an autoimmune inflammatory disorder as well. I attached a link below is her interview with Joe Rogan . it's long, but it's a good listen. She has a blog as well and if you YouTube her name of Google her you may be able to get a shorter version of her story. I highly recommend u hear it and maybe consider trying the same thing.

Very interesting, I basically ate a meat only diet in my 20s and never had an issue with my Reiters syndrome, its reactive arthritis so its not actually AS, but it often compared.
She is actually jordan Petersons daughter if its the same guy im thinking of.

As for myself it may sound redundant but fish oil in high doses has always kept my flare ups at minimum

Thank you so much @Princess_Penguin I will definitely check this out

Well tried the HGH for a longer period of time this time as I was always worried bout my AS along with HGH
Wasn’t pharm grade but got from a very reputable lab with very good feed back on this site.
I found I was in more pain as far as joints and I got carpal tunnels so bad I couldn’t drive, write or sleep because of pain. My skin felt so tight like I was swelled up like a ballon. My pumps were fucking amazing but that was about it.
I had to stop after 21 weeks as it seemed to be getting worse?
maybe pharm grade would be much better but I couldn’t stand it anymore
So for me HGH & AS don’t fair well. I’ll stick to test, primo, Deca for joints.
I should add that the effects didn’t start until around week 6

3iu x 2 Ed
2iu x 2 Ed
2iu Ed

HGH also made my AS arthritis worse. I could only get 6 weeks using 3iu Omnitrope before my joint pain and stiffness prevented me from being able to hold the bar behind my neck during squats.

I know how you feel for shore and I’m sorry you have to go through that. I have the same thing on top of other things. I will update on your post by next week I’m going to doctors on that issue on Wednesday so definitely keep you updated.

Just an update I saw Doctor yesterday for multiple issues so I was able to cover my back problems as well with her. The only thing that she was advising me with my back issues is building your muscles to support the bones, i’m sorry that I couldn’t help or advise any more best wishes with GH.
