Anyhow wasn’t sure where to put this. But since high hemocrit is caused by gear thought this would be a good spot.

So last 2-3 weeks I had felt pretty blah, gasping for breath like I was too full all the time, tired and so on. I had noticed my vision wasn’t the best, but I’m getting more blind as I get older, so I ignored it.
Anyhow I had not donated blood for almost 2 years.

So I was not feeling right, I was going to drop my gear back to trt, but thought, man I need to donate, wonder if that will help. Figured it would t hurt, so I booked an appointment.
I figured if that didn’t help, I may need to see a doctor, a blockage maybe? I did do hard cardio and was fine so I didn’t think it was that.

After I donated, I started to feel better.
Next day, a million bucks, breathing returned to normal, I feel great again.

So I have an oxygen meter. Before donating I was 93-95%. Would go down to 90% while doing cardio.
After donating the next day, 95-100% 98% while doing cardio.

I’m thinking maybe blood gases have a harder time diffusing when you blood is thicker.

Btw t also took 10 minutes for me to donate, I’m normally around 6-8.

So I am going to make sure I donate 3 times a year to be safe.

So if you havnt donated lately, get your butt down there. I can’t see thick blood being good for the organs, lol.

How do you get around the "In the last 12 months have you taken steroids with a needle" question? Or do you just say no?
I just say no. I’m not a junky sharing needles. I think that’s likely more the issue.

By the time they split our blood and add it to a bunch of others, I don’t think the gear would be an issue.
Mind you I won’t donate for a week if I’ve taken an Ai or cialis/viagra. Just in case. And wouldn’t donate on orals, why, well just because.

Mind you I always chuckle at the, have you had sex with a man question,

I agree there. I believe that's why they specifically state "with a needle" in the question. If steroids themselves were the issue, the orals are typically the most toxic ones and they make no mention of those.

I have been considering this for a while now to reduce RBC.

How does the clinic calculate how much blood to take?
Is there a standardized amount based on some sort of criteria?

I believe it was 450 ml.
Any of us running gear, you will feel fine after. I never have gotten light headed.
Mind you they stab you with a 16 gauge, lol.
Every time even on trt after I donate I feel better. That’s why I thought of donating before going to the doctor,,lol,

I’ve posted this before so I’ll post up again. Several years ago now my wife went to school for phlebotomy and towards the end of the course they did a tour of Canadian Blood Services. Well since my wife knows what’s up she straight out asked about the steroid issue. To her surprise they basically said lie because they really really want our blood because it loaded with the good stuff, too much for us at the time but perfect for what they want. The blood is also screened so if there was something there they didn’t like they would dispose of the blood.

I just let it roll every 60 days. When I donate they ask you to pre-book so I just say yes

Like the others have said, I tell them straight up I’m on TRT and they say they love our blood because it’s so rich with red blood cells

Yes donating in the middle of a cycle, it is just fine. I donated once while in the middle and my Haemoglobin was 201. They didn’t even blink an eye they just said it’s a little high I should keep an eye it.

Thanks for the reminder @Sorbate ! Been meaning to but with lockdown, it hasn't been top of mind. Feeling like shit lately and know that this could help a bit.

So assuming they use the same size needle as they do when drawing blood for testing?

I had a CT scan done with dye a few months back and the canon they used for that was ugly.

You can also check a box for them to throw it out i believe
we just gave blood in January of this year and they didnt give us the option to have them throw it out like the had in the past. I had never used that option though but just noticed that it wasn't offered.

I donated last summer in bc. I didn't get the option either. Can't believe they stick a 16g in you. I was sitting there just pale and nauseous as some old woman was calling me a pussy just with the look she gave me haha
