You can be tracked without accepting updates, as long as you're connected you're a target. That's why I used and still use a faraday phone case. Turdeau can track thisThis is why i have declined ios updates on my phone since march 2020. Lol
Yeah, i know. They collect everything. We each have a file on our entire digital lives. LolYou can be tracked without accepting updates, as long as you're connected you're a target. That's why I used and still use a faraday phone case. Turdeau can track this
lol Ya same actually. I'm starting to lose apps and feels like some functionality. The self destruct abort code embedded into the updates will probably have to be activated soon. Or I dig out an old nokia or flip phone.Yeah, i know. They collect everything. We each have a file on our entire digital lives. Lol
But there was a covid specific update. I just refused since that one. Just for spite. Haha
Yep. Mine is so far behind i cant use the app store anymore. Lol.lol Ya same actually. I'm starting to lose apps and feels like some functionality. The self destruct abort code embedded into the updates will probably have to be activated soon. Or I dig out an old nokia or flip phone.
The convenience thing is a real draw though. Would be a real commitment to abandon smart phones now.
I went to 7-11 with cash, got a flip phone and sim card cash. I am one of the folks that has never used my smart phone as a computer, so i am not in habit mode with it...I hate using wifi and cell data in my hands...Have you guys ever used an RF meter?Yep. Mine is so far behind i cant use the app store anymore. Lol.
I bought a new flip phone a while back.
Only reason i keep the smart phone is my music and can put my shows on and listen while inwork around the yard.
Bought an mp3 player to switch, but dont know how to put music in it. Haha.
But now i leave my phone home when i go to town. Only take for long distance drives.
LOL, not paranoia, but sometimes i dont want to be tracked. I uinderstand they can track flip phones etc, but if one buys in cash, with mask on and a hoodie, they have no clue who the phone is. But can track the numbers you communicate with. WE all have the same phones by same purchase strategy, so THEY wont know who we are....Flip phones are tracked by tower location and anonymous flip phones are readily profiled based on who you call and who calls you.
This was made public in the Snowden release.
A further step in privacy is to use a smartphone with a custom open source ROM, but instead of using the SIM for texts and calls you only use it for data to connect to a VOIP dialer and make all your communications through there.
The VOIP number can still be profiled and linked to the IMEI/MEID of whatever SIM/phone you are using, but this requires a targeted effort. Even more so if the VOIP provider is out of country. Once done though, it makes it as minimally effective as just using an anonymous flip phone.
An even more effective thing you can do for cellular privacy from the Canadian govt. is to use a SIM from another country. You can even use a regular smart phone if you want, because the protection doesn't come from technology but from the requirement of the Canadian govt. to make legal applications to the other country for access to phone records. This holds true even if on a roaming agreement using Bell/Rogers networks.
The top shelf for privacy would probably be an anonymous smart phone with a custom opensource ROM that never uses the SIM associated number for calls or texts, and instead uses an encrypted serverless peer to peer app. for all communications. (Briar is a leading one used by journalists). Remember to change out both your phone and SIM on a regular basis.
choose whatever level of paranoia you're comfortable with.
lol. Paranoia was tongue in cheek.LOL, not paranoia, but sometimes i dont want to be tracked. I like the knowledge you provided, very cool.
Its truly not about paranoia though, it is just about privacy, and not wanting some dick in an office somewhere seeing my chats or naked pics or my biz in general...lol
Thanks for sharing, good stuff. Im not going any further than i am with my flipphone. Back many many moons ago this would have been good to know, but there was very few cell phones around in my peak time....lol...

Neither do smartphones like pinephone, librem, or any android with a de-googled OS.Right.
And an old flip phone doesnt report back to apple and google each day with everything you did today
Lol. Total accuracy here. Very rarely does anyone admit we were right. Or even see the significance of calling it out before it was general knowledge.lol. Paranoia was tongue in cheek.
The reason I know about this stuff is because I've been called paranoid by reason of implementing privacy strategies long before Snowden went public. Now it's all matter of fact /common sense everybody knows stuff, people say 'yeah ok you were right, but who cares?' Actually no one ever says I was right, they just say the 'who cares' part, or say nothing at all.
It ain't paranoia when it turns out to be true.
Yeah many folks say...If im not doing anything wrong ...who cares??lol. Paranoia was tongue in cheek.

people often say various themes of "there is nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide"Yeah many folks say...If im not doing anything wrong ...who cares??
I do, its not the point of doing wrong things...Fukn sheep, just follow along...i am in disbelief every hour of the day man....lol
No one has a clue, until it becomes direct in their faces...It IS coming, and fast...
The government agency could do that. I am so fuckign boring and don’t talk to my neighbours much.people often say various themes of "there is nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide"
The fundamental flaw in this line of thinking is that it put the entire principle of innocent until proven guilty upside down.
I wonder how many would be ok with monthly visits from a govt. agency going through their stuff, talking to your neighbours your kids etc just "in case" you might be doing something wrong.
