Blood pressure

Did you notice a big difference in your awareness during the day?

I woke up feeling far better rested, better energy, better clarity.

Now, for the first few days i experienced something the sleep clinic called REM rebound. Its where your body has gotten so used to having so little REM sleep, that when it gets a proper amount you feel a bit overtired. Its similar to when you sleep too long one night, and you feel a bit lethargic the next day.

However, this passed after a few days. I feel terrific now.

I'm not sure specifically if a CPAP machine will lower your BP but proper sleep - enough of it and the right kind is important for good BP so I assume a CPAP machine for Apnea would be a step in the right direction.
My BP is usually under 120/70 anyway with the off higher reading.
The pic is my norm BP most days. When I forgot my CPAP machine of have insomnia, it often raises 5-10 points.

From what i understand, if you're experiencing sleep apnea and you consistently stop breathing throughout the night, then this puts tremendous stress on your heart and cardiovascular system. By using a CPAP machine, it drastically reduces the amount of times you stop breathing throughout the night, thereby alleviating the stress on your heart and cardiovascular system - which then leads to a healthier blood pressure.

This is what the sleep clinic explained to me. I hope i did their explanation justice.

Mine said a similar thing. Overnight my oxygen was dropping to 70% and as I said I was having more than one apnoea per minute some lasting 10 seconds plus.

I still average three or four an hour but way better than 60. And I believe anything under five is considered normal.

Thats much better. They were telling me that anything above 5 times an hour is cause for concern, so now that you've got it below that, you're doing much better.

Considering sleep is one of the most important factors in overall health and even in muscle growth (proper rest) - it only makes sense that 8 hours of crappy sleep wouldn't be much good.
When I started using the CPAP machine - 5 hours of sleep was better than 8 hours without.

Absolutely. Now, even if i only get 5-6 hours of sleep, I'm still feeling better and more energized than when I had 8 hours of sleep pre-CPAP machine.

121/74 HR 55 - nothing wrong with these numbers but this is 10 points higher than norm and my RHR is 5 points higher than normal. I am putting on weight and don't take anything other than a low dose aspirin at night and 500 mg of Nigella Sativa for BP. Increasing NS to 2000 mg per day and increase my daily 15 minute walks to 3.

I’m going to buy a self adjusting machine off kijji soon. Partly because I don’t have a doctor and don’t feel like spending hours in appointments to buy a machine that self regulates, lol.
Anyhow I guess I snore really bad. Maybe it will help with that.
sounds weird, but maybe could look into mouth taping.
2 people I know no longer use their CPAP machines and just tape now.

Your bp seems to be all over the place. Mine is higher, but usually always the same.
Yes, it has been up and down by 10 points. I had to stop using my CPAP machine as it was one of the ones recalled but now I am being told to start using it again and it is OK (by a third party). I also stopped all BP supplements except Nigella Sativa (500 mg) and just increased it to 2000 mg/day.
I take my BP in the AM while I'm drinking coffee - regardless anything under 130 systolic / 70 diastolic and 55 RHR I am content with. I would rather be under 120 systolic but considering I only walk and hit the heavy bag or spar for cardio - can't complain.
If it goes over 130 - I would add in as many supplements as required and increase my walks to get it back in check. BP is a killer and puts a lot of stress on many of your organs, and can result in a shortened lifespan due to a sudden event.
You know this anyway but for those who don't....

Yeah, I'm the same. Under 130 and I'm happy. I really need to buy some Nigella Sativa. Might get me under 120, that would be great.
When I was like 30, I could take 125 mg of epherdrine and still have a bp of 119/70, lol. I don't remember what my hr was but likely over 100 :)

Hey @Sorbate - yes, Nigella Sativa works best for me. Hopefully, it will help you too. I have to take 2000 mg a day which is 4 pills to get a significant reduction. 500 mg a day doesn't seem to cut it. I always have theracurmin as an anti-inflammatory and it helps with BP too - take it at least 4-5 times a week.
My BP is often tied to my sleep - not the amount but the quality of sleep I get. Even 5 hours is enough. I take my BP while drinking coffee and I still get readings in the 100-130 systolic / 60-70 diastolic and RHR between high 40's to mid 50's. I figure why add in anything more if I don't need it.
Exception is when I start HGH, it always spiked 10-15 points for a while but comes back down.

Your a smoker too - I suspect if you quit smoking and you would see a difference.

Yeah I’m still smoking about once a week, but have been a couple times a week lately.
I know it’s not an excuse, but works been really stressful lately and I drink and smoke a couple times a week to unwind.

That is over now though. I only have 6 weeks till my birthday so I need to cut out the beef calories, lol.

I didn't know you quit - or almost quit. Congrats - I couldn't just have one every few days, I would fall back into the pattern and start smoking again and its been 20 plus years since I did that.
