What causes warts on pet’s?

Does anyone know what causes dogs to get warts? My dog had already two cosmetic procedures to have five warts removed they spray all over his body and get infected it always seems to come back. Online it says that it could be caused by coming in contact with infected other dog like some kinda of virus but my other dog doesn’t have it and they sleep in the same bed, it’s definitely not papillomavirus because it’s not around eyes or mouth. He has not been around any other dogs on less at the vets that I’m not aware off. I would gratefully appreciated for any health advice for my pet maybe I can get him some kinda steroid or something.

My boxer had one and the vet said it was from getting immunization shots for different things to close together buy the wart just ended up going away on its own ,that was when he was 1 year old he s all most 3 now and has never got another don t no it this is why but I space his needles at least 6 weeks apart now

I have noticed my older dog is getting them. I would be curious as to the answer as well.
I just realize it lol that you might’ve answered my question is from “old age” so GH might be an option to slow down aging process he’s 11 years old Chihuahua. So I wonder how much GH to give for a 4 pound dog?

I'd say none. You should be asking a Vet & I would bet money on the Vet saying no too.

Thank you 😊 that’s what I was wondering I was really worried because of his size. I don’t need to ask the vet I already got my response on here. I definitely like to do research and ask questions before making any type of decisions especially when it comes to my babies.

But I have been doing this research that GH called “Zycortal Suspension” that you can buy at the pet store it’s made specifically for dogs, it has amazing reviews. So you might be right I might ask the vet.

It is very clear how big your heart is and how much you give back to your community and people that need a little extra support.
It's also very clear how much you love your animals and how you'd like to help them too and want what's best for them but I'd hate to see you get taken advantage of or buy something that may not help at all.

Many things are marketed to be helpful that may be useless or even harmful but they are still able to be sold as research quality or whatnot. I know you just want the best for your dog but a Vet should be able to steer you in the right direction.
Good luck with your search for help!

Warts.... true warts are viral.

dogs can get other growths on them that are wart like or look like warts but may not actually be so.

so the first thing you have to find out is what are they?

the most probable answer is a kind of benign tumor growth. The most common is called sebaceous gland adenomas I believe. Your vet can help you figure out what they are and what treatment methods are best or if they are even required.

don’t just randomly start giving your dog drugs. That is a bad idea.

you’re referring to DD at cjm giving his old dog var. there’s a difference he was just trying to prevent wasting in an old dog where it was about quality of life vs quantity of life.

this is something vastly different I would think.

Well when he had the cosmetic procedure done I asked the doctor to send it off to the lab to have it tested they came back saying they did not know what it was and there’s nothing to be worried about but at the same time they say that it can get infected, that’s the reason I had it removed because two of them were getting infected it was getting crunchy, liquid pass coming out and sometimes turning black.

I just want to say thank you everyone for amazing advice especially @NovaScotiaMan, @DeviousD & @biguglynewf it was definitely an eye-opening and from the response that I got I decided to take him to a third doctor “hopefully three times is a charm” and hopefully I will find out what it is and how to prevent it in the future.

I wanted to update on this post after changing my dog’s diet right after I posted this thread and putting anabiotic‘s plus not letting my mom watch my dog’s. My dog has lost weight and able to run around without falling his arthritis is a lot better as well and his warts went away. It was all about the diet.
That’s him from last week he has his outdoor shoes on so his paws don’t burn on the block concrete.

are you sure they aren't skin tags?

skin tags on dogs are gross looking. They look like a cone.. But they are harmless unless they are in a spot they get irratated like the arm pit.

Well after the diet they went away they like turn block and eventually disappeared, my mom said it could’ve be from fat from him gaining too much weight.

Its insane how much diet contributes to a dogs well being. Mines paws were becoming inflamed to the point where they'd bleed heavily from any exercise and she'd have constant mucus build up in her eyes.

The vet first said bacterial, next, fungal, after they sufficiently padded their pockets. "Oh its probably a diet thing, here come try our prescribed mortgage payment dog food."

"If it's diet why don't I just run a food trial? Same as my doctor would do for me?"

She didn't really like that option. Since it made her nothing. Long story short we cut chicken out of my girls diet. Within 3 weeks everything went away. And she's happy and playful as ever
